:bang: Hi,Brought 2001 fiat multipla 1.9JTD has needed car with six seats, and it had to be cheap to run ,so thought this fit the bill.Car has just under 80,000 miles on clock just had to fork out on new bottom pulley, has it was making strange noise, now skint and got another problem.
You drive afew miles then it just stops,if you wait about 20 mins it might start again.Battery just gone flat now.Looking around this brill site for ideas, the only thing i can come up with is crank sensor.Any ideas,if sensor are they easy to find and fit,can get hold of them cheap anywhere,or is it main dealer. Can not afford to take to garage, got cd workshop manual off ebay, but cant get on with it,rather have book if there was one.
Thought the car was brill, but starting to think we have done the wrong thing now, horn doesnt work now, checked fuse ok,drivers mirror goes in out when start car and interior light dont work, bulb and fuse ok,sunroof leaks. Are these standard problems ,or have we got more to come.:worship:Help

Hi there , im pretty new to em myself but id of thought it would be either the sensor like you say or an aftermarket immobiliser .
A mate with an alfa had the same , run for 20 mins then cut out and die only to start again after 20 mins.
Im pretty sure you must have bought a dud because although these probs have been posted before you seem unlucky to have em all:) .

When our crank shaft sensor went it would not cut out whilst driving but if you drove it for about 20 mins, then left it for a few minutes it would not start again for a while, normally when it had cooled down. If you know anyone who can stick it on a computer it should come up with the error code. My local mechanic did it for free but I know the Fiat dealers charge for this. The sensor was dead cheap, about £20 odd quid and he charged about another £40 for fitting it so all in with VAT was about £70 odd.

If you go back in the forum there is a post about someone whose multi kept playing up similar to yours at traffic lights. He had a number of things he tried before he resolved it so might be worth having a look at this.

My experience of the multi is 99% positive but when things go wrong they tend to be fairly expensive. The leaking sunroof is a known issue and again is posted about quite a bit on here and there are some fixed as well (my own solution to this is don't shut the sunroof whilst moving!).

Hope you get it sorted anyway.

(y)Took a gamble with crank sensor, only cost me £23 from main fiat agent. Was fairly easy to fit just fiddly to get at when you have to work on the road.Seems to of done the trick thank god:p
Thats what make these forum sites so good, when people post there problems and cures,it can save people 100`s of pounds.:)
