Multipla Clutch again!

Anyone got any ideas on this one!
Had clutch replaced 9000 miles ago. The other day all drive to wheels disappeared i.e. car goes into all gears but on letting clutch in there is no drive to wheels! Can 'feel ' clutch slipping. Is there any adjustment on the clutch?
Beginning to lose patience with Multiplas!

HELP!

I do not know much about the Multi's clutch operating mechanism, but with hydraulic clutch mechanisms there is usually very little adjustmant available. Any adjustment would normally be done at the slave cylinder end, possibly at the final push rod/linkage.

Sorry to be pessamistic, but I would strongly advise you take it to some one skilled in clutch/gearbox repairs.

Re: Multipla Clutch again!

If you have lost drive then bleeding the clutch wont help, and there is no other adjustment.does the pedal feel normal, and pedal returns to the top when pressed,or does it feel limp and very light, and stays down when pressed. Also have you had any strong smells,or strange noises from the gear box,or clutch pedal.............

Re: Multipla Clutch again!

hi , sorry for delay-been on holiday in my super-reliable 1994 VW Golf! [ Local garage still has not had time to have a look at the Multipla clutch situation]No smell from Multipla clutch, no noises prior to loss of drive, still got good pedal!!Can a friction plate give up after 9000 miles?(this car is not thrashed)
Arnold Clark (my local dealer) says that the differential could have gone wrong...surely this would be noisy and give plenty warning?
Has no-one any ideas?

Re: Multipla Clutch again!

Sound like clutch unit/gearbox internals, rather than slave cylinders/bleeding etc. Could be broken shaft, contaminated clutch disc due to oil leak from engine seal, shattered clutch disk or even just loose clutch cover. Hope your wrong about the clutch pedal feel and its only a slave cylinder or such like, see if the gearbox has an inspection hole in the top and have a peek--easier said than done I know, especially on a multi.
Good Luck!

Re: Multipla Clutch again!

just been up to the garage-gearbox and clutch are out....it'sthe flywheel that's knackered!! It's not made in one piece but two (at least) and they've parted company i.e. one spins inside the other rather than acting as one solid unit!
What uses the same flywheel as a Multipla, where do I get one and how much?
This is the newest car I've ever had and has cost more money and grief than the rest put together!

Re: Multipla Clutch again!

I had to buy a new flywheel with my new clutch also, it costs about eeek, £400 new or £250 reconditioned, I feel your pain...
The mechanic told me Mondeo flywheels also go and they cost £600, I didn't feel better.
