I Have Just Had My Cluth Replaced At A Fiat Dealer In Tamworth And The Have Charged Me £800 . This Sounds A Lot , Has Anyone Out There Paid This Much .
That Included Clutch And Mastercylinder .

Yes, This sounds a lot!, however I also paid the same amount as the dealer reckoned I needed a new Flywheel as it is a rubber mounted type and the car had big clutch judder, it still had some judder afterwards and I was gutted.
It costs about £400 for the clutch replacement, including parts. I've done clutches before and I wouldn't like to try this one.
You never know if "they" are telling the truth, I'd say 50:50 myself.
Ce la Vie....

I recently had my clutch and flywheel done through my local garage and it cost just under £700 so looks quite consistent.

The first garage I approached quoted me £1000!

The second garage, believe it or not suggested by the first garage, quoted me £240 plus parts supplied by me. They didn't know whether the flywheel would need replacing. So garage total including parts and VAT sourced as cheaply as I could find them at 2014 prices:

- minus DMF flywheel = £350 ish
- plus DMF flywheel = £500 ish

"You never know if "they" are telling the truth": That's why I'm having a crack at it myself, I don't want to get ripped off. With the clutch & flywheel being hidden away in a housing, it would be easy to hoodwink the customer by charging for unnecessary work. If I open the thing up myself, I should be able to see exactly what's wrong.

How time flies!!...Noticed that my previous reply was in 2007 when I had a green 2000 jtd 105!, nice torquey engine, now i'm on a 3rd multi a 115elx.. and just done a job I've always wanted to do (as a perverse challenge and big money saver)-the clutch...but now I need glasses to do it..and gloves...
