FAQ - De-badging

Right you will need...
  • Car with badges on
  • Credit card or thin card of the same propotions.
  • Warm water with a small amout of soap in
  • Also a hairdryer can be used but not essencial
  • Tcut and cloths
  1. If using the hairdryer gently heat over the badge.
  2. With the credit card push it behind the badge and press into the adhesive
  3. Continue doing this in a circular motion around the badge.
  4. Eventually the badge should come off easily.
  5. Soak the area with the water/soap mix and gently with the card ease as much of the adhesive off.
  6. Once most of the adhesive is off use the Tcut to treat any faded paint and it will also remove the rest of the adhesive with a little elbow grease.
Please do not reply to this thread as i hope it will be made sticky.

Re: FAQ - De-badging

If there is quite a lot of glue that is hard to shift left when you take the badge off, you can also use Jelsol on it. Just spray it over the glue and leave it for a few minutes, then just slide the credit card underneath it and it should come off pretty easily

Re: FAQ - De-badging

Easing oil (WD40) is also good for removing left over glue

Re: FAQ - De-badging

Just done my Stilo, used a wallpaper steamer, took the plate off the steamer and worked the end of the hose round the badges, they just came off nicely without any effort.

Re: FAQ - De-badging

I used a rubber drill attachment thing (pinstripe removal tool) to remove the glue...works wonders

Re: FAQ - De-badging

Intensive bug and tar foam works well to loosen it, then when dry just rub it vigorously with your finger and it'll come off.

Re: FAQ - De-badging

I can recommend not using a hairdryer at any point whilst de-badging, for one it means you need to be near a power socket and two, it took me a good half an hour just to heat the glue enough to ram the credit card behind it. After that I got bored and left the other 2 badges. I shall remove them using these methods now.

Cheers.

Talking Re: FAQ - De-badging

use a hair drier, then move a bit of fishing line side to side down the back of the badge, remove the excess glue with a bit of your missus's nail varnish remover! t-cut in if you can still see ghost letters
