Hi everyone, this is my first guide so if anyone sees any fault please shout out (y)

A relay is basically a high power switch, and takes the strain out of the original wiring loom. Relays are advised when ever you are installing, lights, air horns ect.

on the bottom of a simple relay you should have 4 prongs and by each one there should be a number and aslong as you have 4 wires going to the relay you cant go far wrong.

The 4 wires you need are;
* A fused high power live coming straight from the battery, this will carry all the power of what you need to power so if you not sure about your wiring always go a bit thinker than what you think you need

* A High voltage out, this will go from the relay to the intended appliance and also is a good idea to put the same gauge wire as you do going in.

* An earth, the earth wire does not need to be heavy gauge as it only carries a small amount of power.

* A switch live coming from your switch.
If you are wiring up a new appliance on a new circuit put a live going from the bat, through a fuse, through a switch and to your relay.
If you are using part of your existing loom (like your horn) simply put the live already going form your horn into your relay
If you are wiring up some spot lights it might be an idea to crimp into the high beam live and then put the through a switch then to the relay (that way your spot lights will only come in with the main beam and will not cause you any confusion when turning them on and off.

Here are which numbers go into where;
* number 30 is your permanent live.
* number 87 is your live out.
* number 85 is your earth.
* number 86 is your switch live.

Remember to keep your wiring neat and not like a birds nest, that way it is easier to sort if something goes wrong, it looks better, and is less likely to cause confusion

Hope this guide makes sense and any questions please ask i will also make a guide about the 5 prong relays and so on if this gets good ratings
