Ironbridge/Telford Meet June

Ironbridge/Telford Meet June

I'll kick this one off then! I'm thinking we could kick this off by meeting at Telford services and then go for a stroll to Ironbridge. A Saturday is probably best for this, any input from you lot?

Any idea of a date? I think it may be best to be a little dictatorial... -- I can then play good cop to your bad cop...! -- and work on the build-it-and-they-will-come principle.

I'm very tempted -- even though Saturdays are usually out, for me... -- as I haven't been to Ironbridge since I was a kid (sometime just after the Industrial Revolution kicked off...). (y)
varesecrazy...! :slayer:

I'd like to do a meet in June as July I may not be a fiat owner (if things go to plan)
So this would be good for a last hurray :) only I can't do Saturdays due to work :S

Telford/iron bridge is a great idea. Me and the missus are regular visitors there. I think the key to getting it right at the iron bridge is finding a place to park. It's a busy little town and unfortunately you can't drive over it (wouldn't that be an awesome photo! (y)) so if we can find a public car park then walk there and have a shop around or something to eat then drive to somewhere to get some photos.

There are loads of places to park up like outside the museum of iron which is an old factory or the Jackson tile museum (for that industrial look) or a pretty village for which there are loads :)

Ok. We have 3 dates. Thursday 26th, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th. There is a nice big car park at the Coalbrookdale end of Ironbridge, just a short walk to the bridge of Iron then. I say meet at Telford Services for around noon, then a short drive down the EP to Ironbridge for lunch and a mooch/sightseeing/pervingonFiats. Then a circuit via Much Wenlock.

What a shame - it's somewhere I've never been & would love to go. It's Castle Combe on the 28th and Stanford Hall on the 29th which are both very long days/journeys, so I'm already pushing it :( Much as I like the idea of a weekday meeting, you'll never get many people - Sunday is best for most people, as quite a few work Saturdays too.

Good luck with the meeting though (y)

There is a car park on the site of the old railway station next to the bridge of iron where we can park, the idea of trying to keep a row of Fiats together through Ironbridge isn't my idea of a day out!

Problem is I work Sundays, the joys of retail eh? I'd prefer the weekend, but leaving a weekday option open in case there is a majority who work Saturdays. Makes no odds to me, I'm 2 minutes from Ironbridge!

Weekdays normally work for me (the joys of self employment - no Bank Holidays for me though!), just not in June - as you'll have seen from the other MI meeting thread, June is packed with events already. :(

I've drawn up a little route for us after Ironbridge. I reckon if we drop down to Broseley, across to Much Wenlock, up to Cressage, then cut back onto the B4380, and providing there aren't too many of us and there are free spaces, a line up in the layby by Leighton for photos with the River Severn in the background before saying our goodbyes and a blast up Buildwas Bank on the way home :) Some great roads, nice towns and not too taxing. Sound good guys?

It'd be great if it was a Sunday (after stanford). ;)

Be nice to see the bridge now its finished.

Friday 27th would be perfect. Normal day off for me. Avoid the weekend trippers. Sadly can't do the Thu or Sat. So if its Friday, I'll be there.

I wont be able to come to this one as im concentrating on Stanford and then Mitcar. I hope you guys can get a date together and also a decent turnout. I hope to see most of you walking around at Stanford, look out for me. :)

Shame you can't make it. I'm at a fork in the road here, as currently I get Thursday to Saturday off, but I'm changing departments soon so will have Sundays off. I need more people to give their preference on a day before me and homeward go good cop/bad cop on this meet and set it in stone. Over to you lot.

Set up a poll, like other meets, with the Thu-Sat dates proposed and see what results we get. Maybe add the Sunday too, if that gets more votes, meet will have to wait until you can organise a Sunday.
Collating opinions through a growing thread might be difficult.

If David confirms the dates,
I'll put up a poll, :)
