As Palio says, with the words spelled out in full, I have my doubts that anyone will associate the words with anything than what they actually say. (Admittedly, they might ask for a translation. But how many times have you been asked what FIAT means...?!) :confused:

Does no-one watch films with Mia Farrow in, without taking offence; watch the Miami Dolphins, or the Miami Marlins; or fly to Miami International Airport; or not buy anything Made In America...? :rolleyes:

I quite like the fact that MIA also stands for Misfits In Action -- which seems entirely apposite.... :D

If people really do find this offensive -- or think that I'm missing the point -- please let me know. We're only called Midlands Italia (which I see no reason not to keep using -- I just think the logo adds a lot of class to our 'corporate identity'...), because I imposed it on everyone (whether they liked it or not -- although it now seems to meet with pretty universal approval...); and because no-one could make their minds up. (Sound familiar?!) ;)

And -- although I'm willing to stand corrected... -- I'm quite happy to step-down, and let someone else take on all this, if me taking the "bleeding decision" is seen as dictatorial or non-collegiate, or insensitive.... :cool:


PS: Whilst I'm having a Mini Irritation Attack, I used to work in internal and external communication; and was responsible for designing and overseeing many corporate IDs and logos, etc. -- and I personally think this one is bloody good: so, thank you again, chips1: who actually went to all the time and trouble to produce it, and even price the thing up. Nuff sed. :worship:

As I always say at the NEC car shows - it's not a democracy while I'm trying to organise it, so like it, lump it, or try it yourself. ;)

Btw I hope you didn't take the "get on with it" as aimed at you Stephen, as it certainly wasn't. It was a general oh for goodness sakes this has been going on for 18 months.

And I'd like to find out more about the marble institute of America please - it must be good if it's on the list twice!! :)

Tax-disc sized (same size for sticker and tax disc replacement card); and I haven't decided, yet. Probably same sort of cost as FF stickers; with a discount for multiple buys. We shall see what ben and dave say about putting them in the shop, first.... :)

The window stickers I have priced up were in place of the tax disc holder, I assumed people would either keep the existing disc holder and slot the paper/board version in or do away with whatever holder they have and replace with a sticker if that makes sense

The design will be fine, it's a different kind of printing as it would be digital print rather than lithographic. If you view the logo at 100% that is what you are getting, if you increase the view to 800% the quality will remain the same excluding the logo which will look grainy.


The text has been changed to Gothic Demi and put in caps

I like that one chips1, very readable and distinctive.
 
I agree I think this latest version is the best yet. If the extra auotmobilia (or whatever it was) word needs adding I would suggest just adding it this design. Although if added the font will be smaller and therefore harder to read. So maybe just sticking with Midlands Italia would be better but whatever.

I intend to place mine in my existing tax disc holder. So if its a sticker too thats fine.

Thanks for the offer of buying me something homeward but this is not something you need to do, I am just happy to be able to help on something for a change :)

I must admit I do prefer this logo over the original one that the poll was originally for, it looks better and as mentioned by FullMetalPanda having the extra wording would make it a lot smaller.

Prefer the original; prefer it black on white; prefer it with all three words. :bang:

Decide amongst yourselves what you all want; and I'll get chips1 to organize. I actually wish I'd never bothered asking.... :(

If the vote is so much in favour of the original, though, why are all the comments so dead set against it...? :confused:

I must admit I like both. I gave the original a qualified yes - as I would have had it but thought it needed work - so partly my fault it's been changed.......

The first is more traditional, the second looks very modern. On balance I now prefer the new bolder one but I'm happy to go with any decision.

Assuming I don't need to remortgage I'll have a small truckload of the Klingon ones when they're done. (y)

Just what I was thinking, before I s(k)ulked off, last night.... :worship:

PS: chips1 -- can you (and I apologize for being overly fussy; and don't want to overstep your generosity in doing this) just check the red and green colours, please: they look quite light (e.g. luminous-green and almost-pink) on my iPad (and, yes, I'm aware of calibration problems, etc.)? As long as you're happy, so am I...! (y)

PPS: Nothing to take the blame for. The MI(A) bods are just fussy buggers who like everything to be spot on... -- especially their all-day breakfasts... -- but can't make their mind up about anything, apart from their love of little Italian cars. (Half of them don't even live in the Midlands....) Ahhhh

PPPS: If you PM me a PDF of the original design, I shall put it in my tax-disc holder just to annoy everyone...! :nerner:
