Panda Elepanza

Introduction

So just re-acquired a 2004 Panda I sold a couple years ago.
Problems are, I don't think its been cleaned since I last owned it :yuck:
The climate control only blew cold, an the electric mirror switch is snapped.
It didn't have a radio, that was in pieces in the boot and the gear gator was gross and split so I have already removed that ready for the replacement.

here it is,

Pre cleaned seat, :yuck:

Gave them a once over, but I'll replace them soon I think.. and got the radio fitted and the awful climate control system fixed so I have hot air!:worship:

That Panda needs a bit of TLC!

Question is, are you going for the original grille or one of the later plastic only grilles? :D I think theres a third style too Fiat made. So much choice.

You could always use one as a parts car, though if you have the time and money, why not have the two as functioning cars! :D

So it's just run in then!

It would be interesting to know what compression each pot still has, if the engine has done that mileage.

Well we got the car in 2012 with about 160k on it and it doesn't really show any evidence of a engine swap, It was not a very cared for car when we got it.
Picked it up from a field covered in mold actually! (n)

I'll look into a compression test on both be interesting to see what the difference is. :)

Girlfriends Panda 1.1 has done 170,000

Can't tell its a high mileage car from driving it.

1 owner from new. Every receipt. Loads spent on it. 2x clutch, heater blower and brake discs drums and cylinders are the main bits. Rest are several rear shocks droplinks and so on

I have a plan for the grill, working on it this week. (y)

I fixed the climate control, with a bit of a bodge  but it works!
I got a new mirror switch and gear gator on its way. :D

Hi tenpastnine, glad you fixed the climate control, I have a similar problem. Could you say how you fixed it?

I took the center lower part of the dash off from under the gear stick, witch is only about 6 screws, and the small plastic panel by the clutch pedal, then if you lay on the floor an look up behind the dash your see this.

There is a small electric motor with a cog on it, the cog faces away from you as you look up at it.. Its where you can see the bright light in the top left corner of this picture. (just to give you a better idea of where it is.)

Its held in place by two really odd shaped bolts (at least on my car) and one position indicator stalk.
Once its removed it looks like this,

The little black piece of plastic on the right side of the motor thing is the bit that is snapped off the heater unit (the £988 part.).

It would usually be attached to the heater unit and the electric motor would turn it.

I 'fixed' it by cutting the end off a screw driver and gluing it into the motor, then using a soldering iron with a flat blade to make a slot in the heater unit.

This is where the slot needs to be, I painted it white so I could use a black marker on the screw driver tip to know the angle of the slot I need to make.

I am not a mechanic and don't know any technical words, but i hope this helps. :D

I don't think a grill would fit anymore with the light bracket, without cutting it up a lot.

Thanks for your help! I might contact the scrappy about that red one, good find :D
