Yeah I know still weird though
My moneys on a bad injector or two, remove the return line from each injector in turn when its still cold and see how much diesel is flowing out of them, you'll probably find one or two are spewing diesel. Tolerances intenally in the injectors are of the order of microns, when they are hot they can expand and that reduces leakage.
I would definitely check if there is a crappy tuning box plugged into the rail sensor wiring first its a common problem.
