Punto 2012+ My second Punto; a year on.

Introduction

Hi All,

for those of you that commented and joined the thread for my old car, you will know that my old 2006 Grande died of terminal dualogic failure and would have been totally uneconomical to repair. :(

So that's where the new car comes in, i managed to get an absolute steal of a price for my 0 miles on the clock 65 plate punto pop+ 1.2. It was £10,995 OTR as it had a few extras, however the dealer threw me 2 grand off to trade in my old (and completely non functional???) Grande. so i managed to get this for £8,995. its a lovely car that drives absolutely perfectly, bluetooth is a fantastic addition too as i can stream music directly from my phone. i also managed to get them to throw in the old spare from my grande for no extra cost. which was nice because otherwise i would have just had the tin of fix and go, which i hear is not very good...

i have added some photos to this post, more to follow. hope you like her! :)
Has the dealer still got your old Grande? :)

Purely out of interest, what's the difference between your Blue&Me, and the system in my 2008 model?

Funny you ask actually, they do, I had her for a courtesy car when I had the new one in for its first service!

I'm not entirely sure actually. Lots of people say you can't stream to any blue and me system but mine works perfectly with android, Windows phone and iPhone!

Blimey! Was it weird driving it again, lol?

I've never tried streaming music, I wouldn't even know if my phone is capable of it, let alone how to get it to work, lol! I use the USB socket for my music: gotta admit, I love having that, lol! :)

Was weird having it work properly lol! Ah haha it's easy, just pair up your phone and see if the car appears as a Bluetooth speaker in the music app!

Followed from your other thread, I recently passed and a Grande is my first, it's a shame that the dualogic was too expensive to repair, always loved the Grande in blue!

I think the Grande is a little more classy, but the evo is a much more aggressive, my preference is the Grande because of it's lines, but the evo does catch my eye and is less common.

You got a pretty decent deal as well so you cant really complain!

Hope it's treating you well mate, For a 1.2 is it quick?

what year punto pop+ is this?
i have a 2012 pop too also has blue tooth as a factory add on and body colour mirrors, but i have the evo style led rear lights and yours is the grande type...(which i have seen on several pop versions:confused:)
mine has the grande dash but most have the later evo dash??
also i cant stream music from the phone but can use phone as a usb storage device.

The 2012 Punto has gone through a few phases in terms of rear lights & dashboards.

When it was first launched in 2012 all models had the LED rear lights like the Punto Evo, but from some time in 2015 the Pop models got the Grande rear lights - no bad thing given the LED's can be a bit unreliable.

In 2012 the Pop model had the Grande dashboard & all other spec levels had the Evo dashboard, but from some time in 2013 they switched to giving all models the Evo dashboard. The Pop models also got body-coloured door handles - the first time an entry-level Grande, Evo or 2012 Punto got this. They later reverted back to black plastic.

Then in 2016 they dropped the 3 door Punto, so you can now only get a 5 door. That's without even moving onto trim levels, colours & engines!

Was just looking on AutoTrader at Punto's and it looks like from 2016 they've started putting the old Grande Punto rear lights on all spec Punto's again. Either fed-up of warranty claims on the LED units or they're using up parts!

Hi mate,

Sorry I've taken so long to reply! Yeah i loved mine in blue, was a shame but the repair they were quoting £2000 for wasn't even guaranteed to work so I made the decision to leave it.

I do prefer the front end of the grande in honestly however i feel like the interior is a lot nicer but i think that is more a matter of opinion. I am a fan of the EVO too but in my opinion the 2012+ that i have is the nicest of the bunch overall!

The 1.2 is a nice engine actually, feels faster than my 1.4 dualogic but i think that may be because i'm less frightened to push it as i know it is less likely to give up on me! i feel that its capable enough though and i have done a few 6hr+ journeys in it and never felt like it was too limiting of an engine!

Cheers!

I must admit, I too prefer the styling of the Grande. I think the badge is nicer too. I can't really comment on the interior of the 2012+ models, but I do love the interior of my Grande Eleganza. :)
