Tipo (Classic) My 1990 Fiat Tipo 1.4 DGT G204XBC

Introduction

Heres is my 1990 Fiat Tipo 1.4DGT . G204XBC which I bought in 1991 from Swithland motor company in chesterfield for £5500.00, it was 1 year old when I bought it and had 10,000 miles on the clock, now it has 74,000 miles but I only use it in summer now, I did something like 15 miles since the last MOT !
Best car I ever had and according to how many left one of only 8 still taxed.
Absolutely love that. Fancy a swap for a punto lol

As much as I like the color of your car .

Punto MK1 one has two fantastic colours the yellow and the orange and I would love to own one of these but I dont think I could do without my Tipo, I bought it when I was 27 , Im 52 now and it has so many happy memories attached to , up until 2003 it was my daily driver, now its strictly sunshine only ,hence the low millage due to the good old British weather !

Lovely example, Mike!!! Surprised I've never seen it before now.
It looks good enough to be around for quite a lot more years.

My 1991 1.4 model had 100.000 kms on the clock when I bought it in 1999 and has done 33.000 kms (20,500 miles) since then and still no sign of tinworm anywhere on or in it.

We only need a blue one to make a full set.

I have just put on SORN as the mot ran out and the weather forecast was bad and it's never been out in the rain since 2010 ,I have another silver Tipo I have been working on and off for the last 3 years but there's never enough hours in the day to do everything I want .Not many Tipos left now in the UK.

My Tipo loves going out in the rain, she gets her belly and underwings washed for free in reduction water.

As for shortage of hours.
Back in 1989, I worked 17 hours a day for 5 months on a model aircraft. The time flew, the plane never has, it just hangs from our upper floor ceiling gathering dust.

Even less time now ,I seem to have acquired another 2 cars ,a seicento and a Grande punto , all I need now is one more to have one for every day of the week.

I must admit that I completely agree with you as far as the Tipo is concerned. It's the first 'older' car that I've driven with P/S.
On cars built in this century it's fine because most regulate with speed and aren't as 'sloppy' as the Tipo, which took a little getting used to.
I initially bought an EPAS setup and made all the necessary alterations to a spare steering column etc., but decided that fitting a 'large round' motor in a 'small square' hole was a bridge too far.
It would be perfect because it has a manually controlled adjustable electronic power input from OFF through to EASY for parking.
It may yet be a job for a sunny day if I ever get bored.

Still got them, Grande punto is parked on the garden as we have run out of space on the drive and the seicento I have rebuilt all the rear suspension at work but the tax has run out before I finished it so it's on sorn untill the beginning of next month so I can tax it again,so we have 6 vehicles now and a closed down garage has had a fiat Uno stood outside for the last 9 years according to dvla which I have offered to buy and it looks like it will be coming with me, don't know if it is savable yet but it's worth a gamble ! Trouble is I can only drive one at once !!!
