Punto (Mk2/2b) Marcelline the 1.4 Sporting

Introduction

Say hello to my new daily driver, Marcelline!

She's a 1.4 Sporting, picked up off eBay for a mere £519! She's going to be my new daily driver to replace the Pajero as I'm getting pissed off at how much petrol that thing uses!

Plans? Not a lot, replace the wheels with something OEM, replace the headunit with something that has bluetooth and that's pretty much it.

The previous owner's didn't really seem to take much care of her so I'm hoping to rectify that, step one was a wash as I don't think she'd been properly cleaned in so long that, well, I'll let these pictures of my clay bar do the talking ...

So yeah, blu made the trek up to sunny Yorkshire to help me with the new timing belt. Got up nice and early and new tyres were fitted by 09:00.

blu turned up just after 10, and after dismantling the engine mount so we could actually get to the belt (and getting fed up with my jack because it kept lowering on it's own), we got the old belt off to find that it was well past it's best.

But we got finished in good time, got some pics as above and I snapped this one when I got to work this morning.

yeah pretty sure that belt must be the factory belt.. And I gotta say, I was impressed at the car in general for the money you got it for! I thought it was gonna look more rough in person but its pretty clean bar the obvious things like the hacked rear bumper for your 'custom chrome racing' exhaust tips haha, they are so funny!! although not as obnoxious sounding as i thought they would be.

Anyone else had problems fitting an FK badgeless grill? I've read a couple of threads and from what I can tell my bonnet may have been replaced as the latch fouls on the back of the grill, and supposedly the sporting doesn't have this exposed bit?

Other than this, she now has a nice Pioneer bluetooth headunit fitted, along with a full set of Clarion speakers. Definitely needed the upgrade as the original speaker were goosed!

I have also upgraded the rear speakers for a set of Clarion speakers. If you want them on the OEM location, chances are they are not going to fit without some modifications...
