Stilo Percy the stilo

Introduction

Finnaly got a stilo after my latest pinto died :(
Good points:
New radiator
Full new set of tyres
Full new exhaust
New wish bones drop links and track rod ends
Brand new discs and pads all round
Fully working sky roof!

Bad points:
Worn thrust bearing (now changed and brand new clutch fitted :)
Rear lambda sensor faulty (got a new one jus need to fit it!)
Head gasket leaking :(
Both front door check straps broken
I see ya got one then buddy which engine and model stilo you choose any more pics and any plans

its a 1.6 active sport pal...
sky window not working now just stuck open one day and wouldnt close!
managed to close it manually now it just clicks when trying to open it!
tried resetting it but still the same...dont know what else to try?
also randomly wont start and gives loads of random warning msgs...loose connection etc so think the ecu on its way out:(

Thats a downer mate sky roof wise I would have a look no clips or runners have been damaged when you closed it possibly it could do with black grease to free it again as could of seized. From what ive read the 1.6 are prone from ecu failure and someone made there own brackets to move it off the engine as they tend to melt the solder that holds the pins so I would check the pins are still all present

Percy looks nice. Sory to hear of your troubles though.

Who did your clutch for you? I have an issue with mine being sticky.

Also have a broken check strap.

I'd die if the sunroof packed in. It's the reason I picked the car tbh:D

Thanks aj80.had a look at the runners etc but couldnt see anything it could be jamming or sticking on...took the trim off from the headlining and sprayed everything i could see with teflon spray but it still wont budge:(
i was reading on here before about the d4 connector under the fuse box,i think this could be the reason behined the other faults i was getting?i hear they suffer badly from damp and the faults only seem to appear when its been raining heavily?
goimg to have a look tommorow ill let you know how i get on!

haha thats the reason i picked this one was the sky roof i was wounded when it died :bang:
a friend did the clutch for me for £125!(plus 70 for the clutch and thrust bearing)
the slave cylinder was also shot so replaced that aswell.
my clutch was sticky even after replacing the plate etc.
i topped up the break fluid(it was just under min) and sprayed some wd40 on the clutch pedal(the spring at the top and back of the pedal)
and its fine now:)
got some check straps off ebaY off someone that was breaking a stilo for a fiver!
just need to fit them now!

How did you get on looking for the issue with the fuses. Did that sort it?

I'll try the WD40. It's been in and they've said they can't see an issue with the clutch, but after I've been driving awhile it can sometimes start to play up.

Mario is about to cost me just under £300 in new tyres, brakes, headlight adjustment & MOT test fees. But it could've been worse. It's nice to know that the check straps are cheap (y)

The roof could be the relay which is attached to the motor, or worser case the motor itself.

I think the roof could be a Webasto.. so you need the Webasto relay. Last time I bought one (for an Alfa and 10 years ago) it was £41.. so could be a bit frightening. Otherwise look for a seconda mano motor with the relay attached.

Just a quick update...
Tried looking at/cleaning the d4 connector to no affect...
Today cleaned the air inlet control valve(didn't solve the stalling cutting out but Percy seemed to run better and better acceleration etc!)

Looked at the ecu non of the pins appear to have dropped..
Cleaned the plugs and pins with contact cleaner took all the fuses out of the fuse box and cleaned them off with wire wool, cleaned the battery terminals with wire wool also cleaned the plug to the injectors with contact cleaner.
Percy's now running fine and not cutting out/stalling!
Fingers crossed its sorted all those errors!
Just need to sort the sky window out now (don't think I'd dare to attempt taking that apart though!)

How's Mario now?
Have you tried changing the brake fluid or bleeding the system?
Air in the system or worn out/dirty brake fluid can cause a sticky clutch?
