Grande Punto First Car and Loving it!

Introduction

Guess it is time i shared my motor! My first car and despite some niggles and issues with the dualogic i am still loving it so far! keeping it standard this year due to insurance prices as i'm seventeen and no NCB, still learning as well but got the test fairly soon!

Any suggestions for subtle mods please leave them below!

As far as specs go it is a 1.4 8v 3dr Dynamic :D
Update! Unfortuantely i had to take her to fiat for a diagnosis on the Dualogic as it was missing gears and sometimes not going in at all and she has been classed as uneconomical to repair as a new unit would be £1000 plus labour as well as a new engine ECU at around £500.... (n) so i took the plunge and bought a new punto in white. They gave me £2000 for my old car as part-ex even though it doesn't work?? but i have attached a photo of the new car! 1.2 8v Manual 'Pop Plus' with blue and me, alloys, air-con etc!

Your Grande hasn't fallen victim to the latest Scrappage Scheme, has it?

No, not at all. Fiat offered the money to me with the intention of training for the dualogic replacement apparently... Apparently it is mostly the same as the new punto with that system. At the end of the day the system was gonna cost upwards of 2 grand to fix and fiat said there may have been further issues as I have had a knock recently despite not having a fault code. This along with the other things is why they wanted to replace the engine ECU. Hopefully she lives on to train people. Because one thing is for sure, I'm going to struggle letting go of that car. :(

I see! Respect to your Fiat dealer for potentially saving that car. And at least you have got a worthy replacement for it! :)

Definitely, they have been brilliant throughout! I have moved to the 1.2 now though, is there likely to be much difference in the drivability by losing 7hp?

I don't know tbh. On the 1 hand, your 7bhp down, on the other, you now have a manual 'box, which might make up for that difference. Haven't you driven the new 1 yet then?

Yes mate i have, thanks for asking, unfortunately i failed first time so it was second time lucky friday before last friday haha! only a week driving my GP around too.... :(

That doesn't matter, I passed my test 3rd time, lol! And, that is a shame, but you just have to tell yourself that you've got a worthy replacement for it, and you don't have to drive around in a dull fiesta or an ugly Peugeot. :)

Fantastic thanks, 500miles so far and have enjoyed every minute! Will put a post up in the punto 2012 forum when I have cleaned the car ;) hope you had a good xmas by the way.

Awesome! :) Have you noticed a difference in performance going from the 1.4 to the 1.2?

My crimbo was good ta, how was yours? :)
