Punto (Mk2/2b) Mk2b Punto daily project

Introduction

Hey everyone, I would like to introduce you to my car. :)

I drive an 2003 Punto multijet and it's sort of a father and son project. We've got it to replace the sei we've had before and it's been in the family just over 2 years now. When I(we) bought it was bone stock and not well taken care off.

showphoto.php

We've cleaned the whole interior to find out it was actually white not gray, changed the oil and filters. :)

It has air conditioning, power windows, power and colour coded mirrors, abs, adjustable steering wheel

Since I've loved cars since I can remember I couldn't help not to do something with the car. I had a deal with my father that I can do anything I want as long as I finance it and he will help me do it. I work part time as a student, sometimes even two jobs just to aford parts :D call me crazy but that's how I am.

In the two years we've had the car this is the mod list (not in actual order) that we've personally done(around 90%):
-Badgeless grille
-Matt black wrap on roof with the arial welded
-DIY black headlights with ccfl angel eyes
-Borbed 16 inch Abarth rims
-Sporting body kit
-mk2 hgt boot door with spoiler in matt wrap
-Alfa Romeo GT leather seats, front and back
-Subwoofer
-Coilovers
-DIY instrument cluster LED replacement
-Installed fog lights
-LED ambient light under the dash and front seats
-Mk2 leather steering wheel and shift knob
-Rear drum to Hgt disc conversion
-Tinted windows and taillights

That's pretty much it :)

Here are some pics how it looks now

Thanks :)

I've bought them on ebay. They're actually made for BMW models, don't know the dimensions but I think I have it somewhere written down. I'll send you a link in the morning :)

Also I've tried making those diy angel eyes seen on youtube, and they even work but nowhere near the ccfl rings. Lots and lots of work for a bad result

Thanks :)

Alright mate stumbled across this and had a nose, did you get the dimensions? Cheers

Yes I did :)

The bigger ring has an 15 cm outer diameter and a 13,5 or 14 cm inner diameter, the smaller ring has an13 cm outer diameter and a 11.5 cm inner diameter (y)

While I'm at the topic I've replaced the Espace lip with the Cupra lip and now it looks how I wanted it to look :)

Nice one thanks for that. Lookin slick!

I was away for some time but still managed to add some details to my Punto :)

I've tinted the rear light reflectors (not sure how are they called) so the rear grille looks like a solid peace

Then I've tinted the side blinkers and fitted the Espace lip.

I'm not really satisfied with the lip and I've already found a replacement which should arrive by the end of the week :)
How did you fit your espace splitter? I'm thinking about getting one for my car but I don't fancy drilling my car..

I'm afraid there is no other way, especialy that you have to form it a little so it sits nice and flush with the bumper. You could maybe try double sided tape but I think if you scrape somewher it would fall off. That's why I got rid off it, I was scraping everywhere, now with the cupra lip I've got no problems and it looks much better :)

Ok thanks for your advice :) So where did you drill into your car?

I've taken the bumper off just for easier work. Firstly I've centered it and then I've looked how mutch to the edge I wanted it. That done I've started bolting it in from the center outwards making sure it's simmetrical :)

When I take the lip off you can't see the holes because they're under the bumper, maybe the one in the side when you crouch and try to find it

No probs :)

We haven't done anything in a while so here is a little update. I've got a great deal on a JBL amp from a friend so I had to have it since I plan to rework the audio in the spring. It is now waiting for other components.

The amp itself is 4x55W rms and the plan is to have it powering the front and rear speakers. I will replace the sub for something with a little more power and I plan on damping the whole car to keep the sound inside and to improve quality :)

My father and I were at a car show in Belgrade yesterday and we've won our first trophy. Our Punto won third in street category :)

Note: I'm having trouble uploading photos, it flips them upside down, I edit them and when I copy the link it flips them again

I's time for some new updates :)

In past couple of weekes there was not much going and I've got a job so I'll be saving up for some mods for the spring time.

In the meanwhile the Punto has been registered and insured for another year. It's now in winter mode, 14 inch steelies and stock springs and dampers. Just yesterday I've got the egr delete since it started to make tons of problems but only when it rains. Now the car runs much smoother in neutral and the response to gas is just a tad quicker.

Here are some pics, hope you enjoy :)

Time for sam new updates :)

I'll start off with some bad news first

I was rear ended 2 weeks ago by a guy texting while I was waiting for the light to turn green

fortunately all the damage has been fixed and I've even done a few details while the car was at the body shop. The handles have been colour coded and the centre console has been painted white to match the original colour

Also I've bought the Hgt jtd instrument cluster and changed the leds into red and the dials into white

the white dials look way brighter in photos than in real life but I don't have a good enough camera to prove it
