Punto Evo Sporting 135bhp - What Do You Think?

Introduction

Hello FF Community!

Here is my Punto Evo Sporting - 135bhp/207nm. As much as I wish I was an Abarth owner, I'm not (YET), and I couldn't have been due to the insurance issues and budget for the car in the first place. £1600 for Tesco Black Box insurance as a 19 year old was bad enough for me after months of trying to get it down, no luck whatsoever! But my next car will be, without doubt, an Abarth!

Considering I'd never seen a Punto Evo like this before purchasing it, I was pretty impressed/surprised to see one looking like this. The additional extras were all very welcome, and will be listed below for anyone who is interested:

- Sunroof
- Upgraded Sound System (with Boot Sub-Woofer)
- Cruise Control
- Rear Parking Sensors
- Front Middle Arm Rest
- Full Leather interior (Chairs, Dash, Front & Rear Doors)
- Red Brake Callipers
- 17" Five Split-Spoke Alloys
- TomTom SatNav Dashboard Port
- Side Skirts
- Full Sized Spare Wheel

Current Modifications:

  • BMC Panel Filter Upgrade (From Abarth SuperSport)
  • Stubby Silver Aerial
  • Air Box DIY Modifications
  • Team Heko Tinted Wind/Rain Deflectors

Future/Planned Modifications:

  • Possible remap from 135bhp/207nm to 165bhp/280nm
  • Full Custom Exhaust System
  • Possible Lowering by around 40-60mm
  • Windmirror Upgrade To Carbon
  • Possible Front Splitter (Subtle & Stylish, not over the top)
  • Possible Induction Kit
Any other future modifications that you think would be great for this car are welcome for suggestion!

To finish off, I'd love to hear your opinions on the car and whether you think it's a good half way mark for the dream Abarth I was after, which I will get my hands on one day.

Thanks to everyone in advance for any responses and opinions on the first car!

Olly.

Nice ride you've got yourself there Olly, shame about the black box insurance though :( How much did you pick it up for?

Thanks Matt, I know, it's a pain really but it's only bonus miles based with no fines or curfews so no worries really, I'll be getting normal insurance next year though, and probably a remap from 135bhp to 165bhp! ;)

Well it was an ex managers car with only 5650 miles on the clock! So I paid a good price I think of £8,990, a bit much for a punto I know, but when the car was over £17,000 new I reckon it was a great find. There's no punto's out there looking like this one and with such low mileage! Still smells new to this day! It's going to be my car for the next 5-6 years so I feel it's a good investment.

:)

lovely car mate.. how are those heko wind deflectors, and do you recommend the tinted version?

Thanks mate :)

Yeah they're decent! Same for both punto evo and grande punto too so no worries for compatibility there as these are actually meant to be the grande punto ones but they fit my evo perfectly.

I'd recommend tinted ones for sure, they blend in with the paintwork of my car perfectly which is a bonus if yours is black :)

hmm mine is grey, I still havent decided if im going for black or silver alloys but im guessing the tinted deflectors will look nice no matter what... take a look :)

the second pic is with my windows tinted

Nice man! I like it in grey actually, looks good.

I'd definitely say black on this though, black 17" or 18" depending on your budget :) preferably 18's especially as it's a five door to make it look in proportion as much as possible. That's just my opinion though mate ;).

But yeah you're right, the tinted ones will look good for sure.

hmm I was thinking 17s but now you've made me consider 18s... I still cant make my mind up on the colour.. I know black on a grey car will look stunning.. but im hesitant in getting that "boy racer look" if you know what I mean.

Whereas silver or chrome makes the car look nice but also "elegant"... aggghh decisions decisions

Well I'd recommend 17's if you were going to consider lowering it too, but 18's would make it look a lot better in my opinion! Mines got 17's but still the wheel arch gap could do with reduction! So I'm thinking of lowering it in the near future.

It depends on the kind of alloys you get to avoid the box racer look, but black will definitely look best mate for sure! Well it's up to you at the end of the day matey but I'd go for black on grey for sure. :slayer:

Haha well I'm struggling to find black alloys that look elegant.. I like multi spoked or double spoked alloys like yours.

I'm trying my best to find alloys that look almost "standard"
The ones on this punto are original fiat ones and they are perfect for what I want, but cant seem to get them..

Yeah hopefully you'll get it down for next year, i've just paid £1100 for my 1.4 gp :( damn for £9000 and that low milage it's a decent investment (y)

I'm edging towards these - Finichi Milano 17 inch alloys..

I just saw them on this Alfa and when you see them on a car you can get a better opinion and wow they look stunning.

You could be able to find these somewhere mate, but they're the sporting ones I think and I'd imagine they're upwards of £700! A full set of mine would be £750 believe it or not! Crazy cash for genuine wheels but worth it if you want to keep that 'standard' look as you say :) (y)

Just passed in June at 17 years of age.. insurance for a 1.4 Punto was only £990 no blackbox... dont ask me how I did it because I dont even know hahaha!

The bottom ones on the left look quality mate! I'd go for those if I were you for sure! Maybe Matt is right about the black wheels being too common, the silver definitely look good :)

I wouldn't knock them of course, as mine are silver too. (y)

Yeah that's my plan, get it down with my NCB too so I should be looking at under £1,000 considering I'll be 20 by then too.

I thought so too mate, with literally every additional extra on there, I'm not sure there'll be another one out there that's quite like this! :D

These one's look great on the car mate, I'd definitely consider these ones. How much are they for a full set?

Just consider how much it would cost to put some tyres on them too though mate! You're always better trying to save up more to get better tyres if you're on a budget too in my opinion. Good/bad tyre's will make or break the car!
