Punto (Mk1) My Green 60s

Introduction

Hi guys I am new here:) Used too have a Black 1.7 TD SX like 5 years ago but sadly it got written off by a Bin Wagon:( went through a couple of other cars since then(non fiats) but Now I have just bought this!
99 punto 60s 1.2 I think its only an 8v but the most reliabale car I owned was an 1.4 8v Astra Mk3 so I kinda like the idea of having another 8v.lol

I spent half an hour checking for rust on this car and couldnt find anything serious.lol a little surface here and there in none critical spots and a bit on the exhaust but the Body is in Brilliant nick from what I could see:)

The bonnet and Wings are a little faded from the sun so when i get it home will Deffo be giving it a damn good T-cut and polish:)

I dont intend on doing much to this car in terms of Engine and stuff but I am going to Get a nice set of 15" alloys,Replace the rusty backbox with a Rage backbox, nice oval twinpipe one or summat...I want it a little louder but not so ya can hear it a mile away.lol
Might replace the bumpers with colour coded ones at some point,Deffo gonna replace those orange indis with clear ones, probably remove the strips off the side as if i remember correctly they are only glued on. A hairdrier will make short work of them:)
Basically I am not doing anything Excessive too it just gonna tidy it up alot:) Oh and a add a Sub and upgrade the door speakers, Not going with 6 x 9,s this time. The parcel shelf couldnt hold them properly in my old TD SX If I remember correctly and i think the weight made them sag. So this time i will just upgrade the components instead.
Only cost me 295 with the Part ex for my MOT Failed Almera.lol
Good deal?
I have to agree... all count as consumables on an old car that was a budget car to start with... all those years ago.

It should be good for a few years hopefully when everything is done, and the consolation is that you didn't spend / waste time and effort and cash "boy-racering" it - instead it will be a fairly standard, cute and authentic "classic little Fiat" with cheap, skinny tyres. :D

Console yourself further by reading the enormous thread on the 500 (new) forum complaining about erratic and strangled performance on the latest 1.2 FIRE equipped 500s, with all the latest electronic wizardry and Euro emissions crap.! Your Punto should eventually be as simple and enjoyable as a small Fiat is supposed to be.

Stick at it!

The clutch was the original one and its just coming up to 48000 miles now:) thats why I am sticking with it.lol
I am not sure if they did an oil change too. but about a few months ago when I picked it up they put a new slave cylinder on it too. perhaps they did it then?
Well even so once I get it through its mot I am gonna take it to get all the fluids changed anyway.probably just put it in for a full service. then I know things like that a re done:)

My friend asked a mate of his who works in a salvage yard about getting some tyres and apparantly they dont exist....Am I right in asuming the original steels on these are 14"? I told him they are 155/70 on 14" steels and the guy cant seem to find any at that size..
Hmm I am getting a feeling that they are 13" standard now...guess I will have to go check again.lol

EDIT yeah...they 13".lol such a numpty:D

Finally my Cars got through its M.O.T after replacing the Middle,Rear Exhaust sections,Rear tyres, both front indicator bulbs and the Offside Radius arm. Good for another year. lol now can start working on niggly bits like Worn brake pads,Rusty Springs,Leaky Shocks and Fluid replacements:)
Hmm bet it will be too quiet now after putting a brand new Exhaust on it(Standard btw..didnt get the one I was looking at and dont really fancy cutting a brand new exhaust to fit a backbox.lol)

Brings me to a Thought I had. Someone mentioned on here about Replacing the clock in the dash for a rev counter. How easy is this and what sort of prices am I looking at to get the parts needed??
Ty in advance:)

Finally got my Brakes done:) New Discs, pads on the front and New shoes in the back.lol
Only 60 quid for the lot and chucked my mate 20 for helping me with it.Cheaper than a garage!lol
Took me and my mate from Work like 3 hours to remove the damn bolt holding the caliper closed.lol so we had to get stilsons on it and then put new bolts in when we finally got it off. now I feel like I am am gonna get whiplash when I brake hard. all good.:slayer:

Yes it's great when you go rght through your brakes and they slam on really hard.. Did the front hoses on my Brava this year and after the MOT just now I was advised to knock / grind off the rusty lip on the front discs so that the pads would grip 100%. Maybe I'm imagining it but the front is mega-sharp now.

I guess the new brakes will soon spell the end of your tired old front tyres and suspension....

well tbh i really dont know how the brakes were working at all before.lol The pads were rusted to the Caliper...god only knows how they were doing anything...I had to hit the old pads with a hammer several times to dislodge them. Have a feeling the only braking power was coming from the rear. glad I did them now:)

The suspension I will be doing next i think. the Springs are still the originals i think and they dont look in great condition.surprised M.O.T didnt say anything about them. no advisorys or anything.mebbe chuck a set of new shocks on also:)

hello
is someone here?
this is my first time in the forum. I need help!

I bought a fiat punto mk1 1.2 16v 85hp 5-door. The registration is February 1998.
I have the key of the remote control and the key lights the red LED when I press the button. But the car does not open the doors when I press the command button. I need to know where is the receiver circuit in the car. And where is the fuse if any. Please urgent help
