Seicento My Seicento

Introduction

So i ventured into the world of ownership of an sei on a complete whim as i was told about 02 (chiquento) as stated by my neighbor :) I went to look at said car thinking it was a cinq when i was greeted by a 02 seicento schumacher.

After much haggling i purchased CZA and went home to insure to bring him home
Day 2 and i set to giving CZA a good wash and started to machine polish him to try and revive what was left of the pigment and shoddy paint that had been applied from previous owners.

after said wash and polish

I then started to make a list of the parts id need to get him running right again after god knows how long of neglect from previous owners

- Tank
- Rocker gasket
- Cam gasket
- oil
- plugs
- filter
- oil filter

So first job was the rocker cover gasket as it seemed the oil was leaking worse from there! It was seal with silly amounts of sealer and over tightened.

Removing the cover i was shocked

The cover seemed alittle weighty than i remember from previous cars so i took the baffle off and the tar buildup inside and in the breather pipe was shocking...

After a good clean out
ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403519175.711989.jpg

I fitted the gasket and sealed the new gasket and replaced

After running the engine i was pleased that the rocker was fixed but then oil was leaking from the cam seal ti which i found it was split ;(

So second week of ownership CZA gets his second wash and polish

What a pig of a job it turned out to be! Plugs were seized, oil filter was way over tight and the sump plug wasnt all the way in but still took some getting out...

I was going to remove the sump to reseal it but wasnt able to due the the manifold hard up to the pan ;( im sure it has the wrong full exhaust on as it knocks in the centre on the floor and on the tank also!!!

It looks to have scrubbed up quite well.
Whilst you're waiting strip the wiper mechanisms and lube them up. If not they are guaranteed to sieze and more than likely it will be in winter when you need them.

Ian.

I don't strip them, just get some poundshop spray grease, remove the "carpet" on the engine bulkhead, spray all the pivots.
Fair point. Mine did sieze though so I had to strip them, front and back.

By the way, I have just been to Wickes and they are selling 400ml cans of penetrating fluid for 75p. Haven't tried it yet but if it's any good I will be going back for more. Can't find it on the website though so probably a clearance item which means it probably isn't any good, lol.

Cheers for the positive comments chaps ;) il be tinkering with the wipers probably at the weekend as one of the arms has developed a squeak so il grease them up ?

Just realised i never showed the tank so here is the new tank that is slightly different than the original as it has an extra tab but cant complain at £60 from euro parts!

New tankImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403630736.702381.jpg
This also doesn't have the screw pegs to put the cable guides back on but it didnt seem to matter to much as they just rested ontop of the tank

And the tab i mentioned

Looking good bud, Rocker covers gaskets are a weak spot for the sei's as i've found out in the 3 years i've owned mine. Both myself and my mum own sei's but her tank is leaking (stinks in the car!) so will need to order one. I'm not sure if to try and fit myself or not, How did you find it?

If you dont have use of a lift its a bloody pain i wont lie pal! I did mine on axle stands and it took me around 3hrs all together but its well worth it pal to avoid garage labour costs.
There was much swearing and cursing but was good for the experience...
I got mine from euro parts if there is one local to you, was £60 all in

Yeah there's a euro close. I do most of the servicing to both cars but more complex things I tend to give to a good pal of mine to deal with lol.

As mums still learning to drive her car don't get used much so I'm not in much of a rush, may ask my pal to assist in doing it. Did you struggle with any seized bolts ? I also keep forgetting hers is a SPI where as mine is a MPI.

The three behind the heat shield (centre of the car) were the easiest to remove as most of the weather had missed them but the rest were fairly tight but nothing to bad! I took them out a few threads then squirted some WD on it then wound back in to cool and penetrate...
When the tank is out and you come to take the sender out of the tank lift it up so you can remove the black plastic bowl on the bottom of it with a screwdriver.
Black plastic falls into the tank and sender unit can be removed.
Lift black bowl up and shoe horn it out carefully as it just fits in and out.

I didn't take any pictures of that sorry as time was against me but if your stuck when you come to do it give me a shout and il try to talk you through it ?

Today was filled with ups and down!
Went to a few of my local scrap yards to source some bits i required such as cam belt guard top piece, drivers mirror and rear light.
After bringing all the parts home i decided to get straight to it and paint my new mirror as it was blue, whilst the paint was drying i switched the rear lamp over
ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403977040.744943.jpg

I then sorted my exhaust out as it was knocking on the tank from a shoddy fitting to which i then thought while the car is on axle stands it would be a good time to swap the tyres back to front and check the state of the brake pads/disks. After spending nearly an hour removing the wheels due to massive over tightening and shoddy fitment i discovered that the studs where well and truly buggered!!!!
ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403977496.421335.jpg

After removing the wheels i found that i may need disks and pads

The only redeeming factor of the day was the mirror dried so i fitted it
