Seicento My Seicento

Introduction

So i ventured into the world of ownership of an sei on a complete whim as i was told about 02 (chiquento) as stated by my neighbor :) I went to look at said car thinking it was a cinq when i was greeted by a 02 seicento schumacher.

After much haggling i purchased CZA and went home to insure to bring him home
I had the head skimmed from my other car last year. Lancaster Engines on Lansil Industrial Estate did it for £35 (no vat) and I had it back in under 24 hours.
They're a bunch of Fred Dibnah types but they really know what they're doing.

Ian.

Also, if you're very desperate to keep it going a while............................
controvertial suggestion coming up here, turn your eyes away if you're squeamish!...........................................there's always K-Seal

I have used it with success for a temporary fix which actually lasted 2 years but there will now be a long queue of people telling you why not to use it. The job will need doing properly at some point though.

Just a suggestion. I'll leave now .

Over £100 in bits plus a skim is very costly to me ? hopefully i can get some overtime to soften the blow otherwise im off the road for some time!!!
Push iron is going to get plenty of use now ?

Mint! Thought it was going to be more than that! Il prob take it there then ??

As for K-seal im not a fan id rather just get it right so i dont have worse problems later on..

Cheers for the thought though to keep me going?

I require other parts such as cam belt , tensioner , alternator belt and water pump at the same time!

It seems more logical instead of constantly taking things on and off when it can be done in one go while the cam belt is off.

That's only £70 so far so shouldn't be too bad if you can do it yourself.

I would have thought around £140 for parts, oil, anti freeze and skimming but that is a pretty comprehensive job that should last a good while.

But then something else will go wrong

Took my seat bases out today to give them a clean as a leaky sunroof has stained them quite abit ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1407280593.049889.jpg

Couldn't get the back rest covers off so il get some shampoo clean them at a later date

Yeah tried following that but just couldnt get the head rests to unclip! Had to get ready for work so gave up ;( il do it at some point bases came up good though!!!

Il rebuild and post a comparison pic

From memory: to get the headrests off -the plastic clips on the top of the seat have a section that pulls out slightly then rotate the clips 45 degrees. Headrest then lifts straight out.
If this doesn't work i'm pretty sure removing headrests is covered in the workshop manual on this site.

"leaky sunroof has stained them quite abit"
Ok, you stick to that story if you want to. I'm sure we all believe it.

Reyt finally got some pennies to do my engine, i picked it up from the skimmers and hopefully get it back in the car in the next week or so.

Not having the use of a car i had to improvise to pick it up ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1409236117.904643.jpg

I didnt get any pics of where it blew as i was to busy swearing at it and loosing my rag trying to get the inlet off and removing the snapped head bolts.

Cant wait to be re-united ?

Was an absolute pain to remove the stretch bolts most were hella tight longest head removal ever i think!!

Will be getting the parts this weekend so should be back on the road soon.

The breach of the gasket was in 1 and 3 from the water holes to the cylinder, skim cost me £36

He had to take a fair bit off as the pitting was quite deep apparently. Price seemed reasonable to me but I've not been in the trade for a good while to know what the going rates are for stuff such as this ;(

Il pick up my parts tomorrow ive been assured that there less than £100 which is the cheapest ive come across so will have some spare cash to put as side for some tyres

I am very impressed by your pro-activity! Great write-up too, I'll be keeping up to date with this great work. I hope I am at least partially as attentive to my new acquisition when I get it to my lockup!

Cheers pal ? and thank you for your appreciation.

Let me know when your on with your project, i will help you as much as i can.

Finally i got some parts and set to putting the head back on but then hit a snag when i tried fitting the cam belt an realised it was to bloody short ;( id been supplied with a 104 tooth belt instead of a 125 tooth..

Only got a few pics of nothing really but il be back on the road by next weekend i recon ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1410083429.018701.jpg
