Grande Punto My little T-JET!

Introduction

So the day has come where I picked my TJET up.
Took a lot of convincing that this was the right car for me, had to convince my parents (I'm 19) that I could handle the power, regardless of the endless amount of powerful cars I've driven since working for VW and Mini, (New/old Golf R's, GTI's, Cooper S etc.)
Then it was the struggle to get my father to take me 125 miles to go and collect the thing in Hexham, 3 miles from the Scottish Border, so travelling from Leeds took a good 2 hours..

Soon as we got there, I knew I wanted it, he knew I wanted it, and I had a funny feeling he wanted it too.. So after a bit of haggling and banter.
Here is my 2007 (07) TJET, in red..

By the looks of the car, the Y spoke wheels are standard? Don't know whether anthracite was standard when the cars were new or not.
Also sounds/looks like it has a different exhaust on.. Little bit louder and bigger, also pops a few times!!

Absolutely love driving her and have got a few plans for her myself.
These being to start off with:
  • Some nice smoked wind deflectors
  • Maybe a fly-eye kit for the lights (bit strict on money at the moment)
  • Some 6000k bulbs for dipped and main, maybe some number plate bulbs if I get round to it.
Then there is also, an induction kit and remapping but that will come at a later stage due to insurance being silly!!
May possibly take the front bottom grille off to show off the intercooler but will check to see how it looks first.
That's it from me!!

Keep updated with the posts!
Ciao.

I know it wouldn't let me send it on the app so I copied and pasted, so it messed it all up, are the higher power bulbs, the whiter/blue colour?
I know the higher the power the more blue and eventually purple they get, is it above a certain amount they can only be used for specialist purposes?

Its the kelvin (light colour) that gets more purple as it gets higher.
Generally haolgen bulbs wont go over 6000k, its a nice bright white/blue.
I use bosch plus 90 bulbs, also heard that ring xenon max 120% are also very good.

Not the best pic though, they are a lovely bright white!

Yes! That's the kind of look I'm going for. Maybe a little more blue but don't know if different manufacturers of bulbs will make a difference, might have to have a look into them ring xenon max 120s though, gonna have a nice spree tomorrow and have a look to see what I can buy for the car!!

Thanks a lot Sweex I now need my fog light bulbs changing as I am very particular about the way things look! More £££!!

Are they relatively easy to fit? I've seen the guide but can't made head or tails of it without actually looking myself

Mine have a nice blue tint when they are cold and white once warm.
If you want bluer bulbs you can get ones that are more blue, they just aren't brighter.
I hate dull bulbs so go for the brighter ones! Lol!
Dont be fooled by the blue glass on some bulbs though, it doesnt always make them blue!

Fog light bulbs are very easy to fit mate :) twist the back of the housing off, remove the bulb, stick new one in!

If you need anything mate, just drop me a pm :)

I'll have a look about tomorrow and then give you a shout if I need anything! Think it's time to hit the sack 5+ hours of driving takes it out of you!'

Cheers for you help so far

Having a few problems with the car, went to clean her and opened the sky dome as it's seriously warm!!
I went to close it as I went inside and it's getting around 3 inches from closing and then it's stopping and opening back up?? :(

Now there's a horrible scraping noise under breaking and like a ticking noise, doesn't do it when I turn right, but seems to be getting worse the more I drive it, taking it to a garage to get it looked over :( fingers crossed.

Maybe brakes rubbing but it was serviced in April and MOT'd in March.. Bit curious as to what's going on but I seriously hope I haven't bought a shed..

Braking noise could be the heat shield behind the brake rubbing, try bending it away from the brake.

Took it to a garage, they said it's on lowering springs, some sort of metal sleeve was rubbing against the tyre, so it was shredding it, also they said when the wheel was turning it was metal on metal so they're replacing the tyre and new pads and discs on rear, poorly punto costing me over £200! :(

Sorry for the huge influx of posts but turns out the car is on lowering springs. What springs I'm not sure. & it also doesn't have another exhaust on just a tip? Do they pop naturally? ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403523784.320668.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403523799.117804.jpg

Right caliper was stuck on so was constantly wearing it, said it may have caused juddering under braking which it was doing a little, bumped up to nearly £400 now. Not exactly ideal when I bought it 2 days ago..

Go back to the garage you got it from if you haven't they should have done it before selling it to you

Unless you went private

It wasn't a garage as such, they buy like 10/15 cars and sell them on, they said it was MOT'd and serviced in March/April, got the documents too. But the mechanic said it's impossible for it to wear down that much in 3 months..

The guy who sold me the car said the parts shouldn't have been that expensive and that their mechanic checked it over.. It was with them for 10 days before I bought it. Then proceeded to ask for my bank details so he could give me £50 as a goodwill gesture..

So pissed off if I'm honest but atleast the cars repaired now

Welcome to Fiat ownership!

Problem you may find is the MOT paper was treated to "creative license", I found this with my Saxo. Anything to get rid of a car for some dollar, you see. Not a lot you can do really, just take it as a lesson in buying cars!

Springs to mind!! I've got a video of the sound of my car, since it's not got an induction kit, or an aftermarket exhaust, I want you guys to let me know what you think it sounds like, whether it's right, or you think I need it looking at, give me 10 minutes or so
