Cinquecento N246 UCF Mighty Mouse The First Van Aaken Turbo

Introduction

Some may already know of this car. It was first registered to van aaken themselves and was their development car for their turbo kits. It was used as their press car and has so far featured in auto italia, an unknown French magazine also is in the small fiat book.

When I first saw this for sale I wanted it but didn't think that I would actually come to own it. To me it is such an important piece of cento history so has to be saved. Pics are to come I haven't got the car yet should be with me Tuesday when I'll be like a kid at Christmas.

The plan for now I'm going to give it a thorough service. Ill put on a new crank sensor and put a new engine loom on that ill mod to the turbo application as I believe current loom has been hacked about a bit this will also mean that a new lambda will plug straight in. That will get it running I'll chuck some new tyres on it to get it mot. Then I've got a mate who will hopefully spray the rear quarter for me then I'll treat it to a full machine polish, new graphics and a few bits under the bonnet re painting, re jigging etc. in the end I'd hope for it to look exactly like it did when it featured in auto italia.

The eventual plan is a full rebuild incl engine, stainless mani, oil cooler etc but that's to come once my 1.4 is finished to the spec that I want it

I've never owned a turbo petrol before so it's going to be a bit of a learning curve so there'll be plenty of silly questions appearing at one time or another:rolleyes:
Can i have another spin in her at stanford hall :),

having 2 centos , one as a daily and one as a toy is fun ... i had it for 3 weeks , it was good fun

No problems. It's soo much nicer to drive than my derv gp (let's be honest a lot of cars are:eek:)

Ok got in it sat morning no reverse. Had a look over couldn't see anything wrong with selector so came to conclusion must be internal so box off put new clutch on box back on selection better but in the end don't think it was the box more of a cable issue that solved when got disturbed. Took car for a spin and now the clutch is slipping big time :bang:can only assume I've done something wrong oil contamination or something so this week box is coming off again half tempted to put my lightened 190mm flywheel and clutch to match

This is as soon as throttle is applied say going up a hill definately slipping I have it set fairly loose ATM so clutch pedal is just below brake pedal then once bedded in id hope to put to usual setting of just above brake pedal annoyingly can't find my Haynes otherwise I would make sure it within their guidelines

Also have a slight rotational noise from gearbox side which goes away when clutch depressed I can only think input bearing but this was replaced as well although the bearing looked a bit odd to me but fitted on alright clutch is biting fine changes are fine just slipping on acceleration

Long time no update well have done quite a bit incl upping the boost head rebuild
866 cam been running well for quite sometime until today

Went up to chippenham on the way there car started smelling, then smoking so pulled over to hard shoulder to be greeted with serious steam under the bonnet. Rac turned up found the bleed valve on the heater had popped out, so plugged hole tried to start with booster on and failed seems to have hydro locked everytime coolant goes in without engine running and leaks with no visible leaks. Lots poured out of the exhaust when going up the ramp of the truck.

I've planned to take it off the road early next year for a nut and bolt restoration so think it'll be sooner than planned
