Bravo Belinda the New Bravo T-Jet

Introduction

Hi,

New member to the forum, and after loads of different vehicles I am now so very happy in my new car. It's the first car I've named in the 8 cars I've owned, which is embarrassing but I love her so much.

Belinda most of the time, but then Bella when I'm giving her a spanking and having some fun :p

Anyway, after looking around for a while I settled for a 120 T-JET Active. Which is neither the fastest plus it's bottom of the range. But overall I'm super happy. I ideally wanted either a diesel or at least a Dynamic spec. But looking on the bright side this 120 T-Jet is in a lower insurance group, it's really good on fuel and £4,500 for a car with 16,000 miles was a price I couldn't let someone else have! As far as I'm concerned, it's a near as dammit brand new :p

I'm hoping to do some subtle mods over the coming years but it's going to be a slow process as my time is very limited. Anything recommendations for good mods to these cars?

Anyway, here are some pictures :)

Thanks for reading.

I never used to like Silvery cars (Looks Silver to me but everyone tells me it's not :p) but this looks brilliant when it's clean and much better than a black/blue or white car when it's not been washed all week. I fell in love at the garage :)

This is called minuet blue, there's a pure silver available on the bravo but it doesn't look as good.

Being a new owner myself (2 months) I haven't seen many mods to do. But mine is the dynamic model and has factory fitted tints. So I'd instantly recommend privacy glass. Also being as yours is an active you could do the Aux mod into the standard head unit. Mine has the blue and me Bluetooth and media input but if I was to have the active that would be my first port of call. I also have the 120 t-jet model. Quickest car I've owned and is also the most efficient when not using heavy boots if you get what I mean. Great car. Welcome to the club (y)

Thank you :)

I've been a huge fan of it so far overall, like I said, great mixture of power and at 42mpg+ I can't complain.

I was going for a toss up between retrofitting Aux from a Dynamic model or just plain ditching the whole headunit in favour of a double din touchscreen all-in-one sat nav jobbie. I've always wanted one but not been keen on the costs..

Personally I'd change the OEM headunit for an aftermarket one. Its was I've done, and I even had B&M before, just thought it was total pants :p

Sounds like I need to go after market ;)

I just need to decide between single din or double din...
Definitely double din. If money was no object there are some amazing touch screen multimedia systems you can get these days. Built in tom tom systems etc. And when fitted correctly a lot of them still work with your steering wheel controls. I saw one the other day that has a 2 way screen. From the passenger side it plays blu-rays or even HD digital tv. But from the drivers side it had the sat nav maps up and also showed car stats such as mpg etc. Was over a £1000 however lol

Cars first "mini" detailing session!

Whilst the car looked fantastic, up close the paintwork was badly contaminated.

So, this was my method.

* UK Valet Cherry Snow Foam (first attempt with new lance :) )
* AG Intensive Tar Remover
* AG Super Resin - two passes, first with "flexipads hex Heavy Polishing Pad" and second with "flexipads hex Finishing Pad"
* AG Super resin then reapplied and left to set for 24 hours
* AG Extra Gloss Protection applied then left to harden for around 4 hours.

Buff to finish! I was planning on applying some wax after the EGP Sealant but for the time being I think I will either apply Aqua Wax after the next wash, or continue to build up the layers of sealant.

Some pics to have a gander at, some look better than others cause the sun has been in and out all day!

Thanks for looking :)

Technically speaking mine is a grey. :) my profile picture was darkened using a filter.

I had a black Grande though and I could get reflections in that by just sending it round the local Kosovan hand wash lol. But yeh good job on the cleaning. I should really get myself a buffer like yours. But whilst doing it, any imperfections in the paint would bug me. So I leave it dirty so I don't see them lol.

Fair enough! I looked at the same colour (also 1.4 T-Jet) but I wasn't interested because he wanted too much for the car.

Did you buy that car from http://www.secondcitymotor.co.uk/Fleet Cars.htm in Birmingham? I recognise the photo cause they always take pictures of their cars exactly the same way.

Can I be cheeky and ask how much you paid for it and the mileage etc? I just want to know if Arnold Clarke ripped me off or not :)

Yeh I did, really nice guys. They go above and beyond with service. They part exchanged my Megane for a very reasonable £2,000 which was above any part ex price I got by £400. I paid £3,900 for it including tax, Mot until (June and July). He changed all filters, gave me a tank of petrol, a full service and 3 months warranty. It had done 59,900 miles. He also offered me a great deal on AA warranty including turbo and air con cover which isn't standard. That was £200. It's meant to be £400+ without the extra cover. With everything I got I paid much less than garage price for anything similar anywhere else in the country. Yeh I reckon I may of gotten a cheaper deal privately but it wouldn't of come with everything they gave me. Since buying the car he's had it off me twice to fix an issue with tracking. And an annoying steering wheel creak. He even sent me to a proper fiat/Alfa place to get that one fixed. All paid for. Car is great. Lovely condition. Fantastic buy in my opinion

Sounds like they are proper good dealers then!

I toyed with the idea of a couple of 156/ 159's he had for sale on Autotrader but I eventually went for the Bravo.

I paid £4,600 for the car but it's an Active (poverty spec).. 2009 with full service history and all that. With only 16k on the clock I don't feel I've overpaid. It was the mileage and condition that sold it for me.

However, in my honest opinion, unless the car was 100% what you wanted, I wouldn't recommend Arnold Clarke's service. Although all cars come with 12 months MOT and they service all their vehicles before they leave - everything else is an optional extra. They also change you for road TAX which is a little annoying.

They tried to charge me £15 for the petrol, with the excuse of "you have to buy petrol to drive it anyway" which when I'm spending over £4,000 is outrageous. Then they wanted £55 for a dent and scratch repair - which I said was a major defect on the car (big car park dent and scratch right in the middle of the passenger side door). Along with less savoury terms such as ONLY 2 month's warranty with another optional extra for 6 months at a cost well into the hundreds of £££. Last but not least the car takes a long while to warm up (4-5 miles) which I deem as too long for a car with 16k on the clock, and when it went into the garage they told me their "technicians said it was fine" and I was handed it back. The final straw is the fact they sold it me without a passenger side sun visor and I'm STILL chasing them for one.

Rant over. Other than that I love the car haha.

Collected my summer wheels yesterday! I reckon they are going to look pretty nice! I've always been a firm believer in winter and summer tyres so I'll keep my steelies with my winter tyres on and use these probably from March to October :)

I'm hoping the style is more subtle and "OEM" than most of the after market wheels. The centre cap is also the same size as the 60mm FIAT badges so I could swap them over to make them look even more OEM, I'm just hoping they will fit.

All I need now is some good tyres, any recommendations?

There will be another update soon, a bargain ordered from Demon Tweeks, but that will be a secret until "they" arrive.

Thanks for looking :)
