Cinquecento My '93 1.4 16v Cinquecento

Introduction

Hi everyone,

After best part of ten years with various Italian cars, I'm now back where I started.... with a Cinq!!

I bough it already converted to 1242 16v power but it will be undergoing a lot of work to improve and tidy bits here and there.

Since buying it I've swapped the K&N for a CDA, I've re-fitted the orange front indicators and flushed the coolant and fitted a cleaner expansion tank. Alternator belt changed, that's fun with the engine mount being so close! Major service coming soon as well.

Please excuse the crappy pictures, my phone is rubbish!!

Rear window is tinted, that will be coming off:

Has a 1.6 16v Bravo TB, RR'd at 89bhp:

With my standard Seicento Sporting:

Lots of stuff on the to do list including fitting Spax kit (ordered), move the battery back in to the engine bay, moving ECU to other side of engine bay, polybush nearly everything I can buy a polybush for, put rear seats back in, upper and lower strut bar and fit Uno turbo calipers! Should keep me busy!

Lots more little jobs need doing, car has been keyed so that needs doing as well. I might upgrade to a 1.4 at some point but I won't get too carried away yet!

Overall though it's a cracking little car, so much fun and once I've sorted a few bits (mainly the brakes and the suspension!!) it should be fantastic.

I guess u like plastidip then lol

Yes :D Got the plastidip for nothing (y) it's good stuff but i wouldn't paint a whole car in it and i'm trying to limit what i use it on. Will be getting my wheels refurbed properly when funds allow.

Tried the plastidip on a few interior bits and it's turned out quite nice.

Plenty of Cinqs (and the odd Sei) with 1.2 Punto engines in them. Some stuff in the guides/FAQs.

Just to get back to this plastidip theres a fella on line selling some alloys that have been done in plastidip have u ever tryed this ??

Re: My '93 1242 16v Cinquecento

i want your wheels even more than blu :)

how was the plastidip to apply?

Very easy. Much easier than paint tbh. At first i thought i'd messed it up but once it dried it came out nice.

You have to be careful cleaning it though - not sure what it'll be like once it's covered in brake dust but it's only until i can get them refurbed the same colour.

Bit of an update!! Pic quality varies from bad to awful!

Lots of other stuff done, just didn't get any pics. Lots of underseal gone on as well.

Avo coilovers and Project Silver camber plates:

Fitted with a helper spring, have since wound the coilovers down as low as they go:

Brand new tank which I painted:

Corbeau seat, tried it in the car and looks like it will be a good fit:

Sabelt 4 point 3" harness:

Cheapo HID kit:

Headlights are both knackered, need to buy two new ones

Here's one of our cats on the garage roof because I felt like including him:

And for the first time in over a year it's back on the ground!

Front camber with plates AND bolts. Running a 10mm spacer to clear my brakes and wheels stick out without the camber:

Too much arch gap, coilovers as low as they'll go with a helper spring so think I'll get shorter springs:

Still a bit of clearance underneath so think I can get away with going lower:

And very significantly, it fired up and moved!

MOT soon hopefully. Few bits to sort out yet but getting there. Might actually have it ready for Brooklands.

Excellent job there (y).

I have to sort the mot this week too, but then I have to sell the 146 :(

So I'm hoping to be all good for Brooklands too. Rest of March and April to get rid of any gremlins. That's if it doesn't eat another gearbox.

I love the rear arms, it's a shame you can't see them.

Can you keep us updated on how the plasti dip goes on you're wheels, I'm tempted to do the 14's white.

Re: My '93 1242 16v Cinquecento

Want the car to be MOT friendly(ish) so think I'll have to run with helper springs at least until it's MOTd.

Thinking I might go with a 2" shorter spring and slightly stiffer to allow for the extra weight of the 16v engine.

Re: My '93 1242 16v Cinquecento

If uploaded a pic of the springs i changed mine to , , i can dig some info out for them if you desire .. , , I know you can get Avo to custom make some new springs but its a bit of £££ last time i check when i was wanting them
