My 1.6 Bordeaux Old Rose 3dr Stilo

<< I have just seen the sticky regarding external image hosting, but seem to be unable to change it now as I get a message regarding editing after 180 minutes >>

Here is my 3 door Stilo, which is bordeaux old rose. 1.6 litre petrol model.

Bought it a few months ago, and have been tidying it up and keeping it fairly original.

Picture of it now:

Photos of how it was, and what I've done to follow :)

After owning it for a few days, I brought up the colour using Turtle Colour Magic polish - worked wonders!

I replaced the JVC cd player with an original Visteon CD unit, and installed the hifi upgrade option (just the speakers and tweeters, without the sub and amp).

Got a new badge for the front, and put the old one (slightly faded) on the back:

I decided against alloys for now, mainly due to cost, and the fact that the tired on it have plenty of life left in them.
I therefore got some Grande Punto trims. Although they are bolt on, and the grande punto has a PCD of 4x100 rather than 98, they still fit fine.

I have used colour magic wax on it which has made the paintwork quite reflective. Also changed the rear view mirror for a grande punto black one.

Have worked on the interior, and it's spotless now (Autoglym products seem to be the best!). Have replaced the gearstick and handbrake gaiters with real leather replacements.

Managed to get some rear mudflaps from the local Fiat specialist who had some left over in stock!

Engine wise, I've had the cambelt done now, the aux belt and idler which has removed a whine it had, and the clicking clutch pedal.

I'm very happy with the car now! I love it, and it's in great condition. It's the 1.6 petrol model, and I average 38mpg!! On a run on the dual carriageway etc, I get at least 43.

Metallic red is my favourite colour and your Stilo looks great.

Mine isn't bad, has a few scratches and dings etc. but silver is pretty good at covering a multitude of sins! :)

The insides not too bad either though there are some scratches on the door cards due to finger nails etc. but it's good enough for what I bought the car for, though one as nice as yours would be a bonus.

I'm a big fan of Autoglym stuff as well, though I haven't used any on the Stilo - I haven't even washed it yet as it's not that dirty really.

Thanks, I wasn't sure on the colour at first when I saw it, but it was under a few layers of bird poo and dirt

So far I've got the Autoglym shampoo and conditioner, which seems to lift dirt really well, the Autoglym interior shampoo - can be used on trim or pretty much anything, it's fantastic!! Also got Fastglass cleaner and Odour remover, both of which are great. The glass cleaner makes the windows almost reflective from the outside, and the odour remover makes it smell like a new car.

I used Meguires interior detailer when I first got the car for the door cards etc. Bit of a pain to spray, wipe on, and then wipe off excess but well worth it (y)

Cheers bud (y) that was a HUGE risk as I had never seen one on a stilo before. I have seen one on a bravo and I understood the bravo is loosely based on the stilo and took a gamble and bought one for the princely sum of £280 on the hope that it fitted and it did......... Sort of it stood away from the column cowling by about 10mm so I had to shave it down untill it did which was nerve wracking  :D

very nice work there its always good to see people such as yourself really taking pride in their car - and as a result yours looks stunning.

Great mileage by the way (y)

Thanks! I know it's 10 years old, but I still want it to look the best it can :)
I'm quite happy with the MPG, couldn't ask for better. The car has done 85k miles, so hopefully it will give me some good use.

Really nice Stilo you have there man :)

What are the new speakers like? Are they a good improvement over the standard ones? I may have to get those to go with my Connect Nav :D where did you get them?

I'm also an Autoglym man through and through :)

When I got my Stilo, one of the tweeters didn't work, so I can't compare exactly - but they're a definite upgrade. The upgraded tweeters are a lot smoother (the one working original sounded a bit plasticy in comparison), and the door speakers have a lot more low end.
Worthwhile upgrade I think, I got the part numbers off ePer and then asked my local dealer to order them in.

Part numbers (for the 3 door) are:
46772453 - Tweeters
46754228 - Front Speakers
46772454 - 3dr nearside
46806815 - 3dr offside

Not too expensive - Tweeters were around £11 each plus VAT, speakers were about £13 each plus VAT. (Rear ones possibly a couple of quid more)

car looks lovely buddy

Thanks man. The rear view mirror is slotted onto a metal plate that's glued to the screen. The mirror slides upwards off it. If the metal plate comes off, halfords sell a kit made by loctite for reglueing it.

The clutch pedal needed a new ball on the end of the actuator rod. There's an actuator rod that comes from the cylinder, that the clutch pedal pushes against.

The part number is 46554495, it cost me £1.23 plus VAT from the dealer, took a few days to order.

You need to take the pedal noise cover off, held in with two push pins that you need to push with a screwdriver. If they break, replacement pin clips are: 713286636

This plastic bit that has broken up is on the end of the rod that goes into the clutch pedal.

Cheers man I'll have to phone my local Fiat dealer for a price!

Also like the sound of the GP interior mirror, definitely bumping these ideas for my Stilo ;) lol need to make my engine swap the top priority though :)

If you're planning on getting new alloys in future then may I make a suggestion? Get a set of Abarth 500 alloys for it! Would look awesome and they're a straight fit :)

I have been thinking about alloys in the near future, because I think I'm going to need 2 new tyres soon.
I was looking at the 5 double spoke Stilo alloys (or Blades, they're similar I think). There seem to be some nice looking Abarth 500 alloys though, especially the multispoke ones. Seem to be substantially more expensive though (n)

Loving your car! I like that you've been looking after it and keeping it Fiat related. Some nice tips about cleaning it up with the Autoglym, wish my body work wasn't so faded (I have a red Fiat).

I have a few scratches on my car as well, I don't suppose Autoglym will get rid of them for me hey?

I'd recommend trying Turtle Colour Magic polish - it should bring up some of the faded parts, and make the scratches less noticeable. Give it a good polish, and then another one a few days later.
I had a lot of small stone chips on my bonnet, and after using red Colour Magic polish, they're hardly noticeable. I can't recommend it enough!
