Cinquecento Show Car Build

Introduction

Hi all!

After really enjoying reading other people's threads, I thought I might just have a crack at it myself! the aim will be to build a show car from my completely stock cinq sporting :)

I bought the car for mere peanuts! Though it has many niggles that reflect the price I paid, eg. Broken seat, needs service, no service history etc etc.......

So here we go!

On the way back from Manchester the car decided it preferred to run at 130 Celsius :bang: upon further inspection the rad was seriously past it, and the expansion cap wasn't doing its job of keeping the coolant in the system :( but these are cheap fixes and I fixed it all in the same day ;)

And here it is within an hour of getting it back (y)

New radiator (from a sei) new expansion cap (from a sei) and all new hoses (from a sei). Thank you seicento :D

Anyway I'll probably post every few days, hope its a decent read ;)

Not sure how to go about taking the trim off of the doors and body panels (the plastic strip going down the side) and smoothing it, is it glued or?

On the Sei Sporting? It's glued. Gentle heat (hair dryer) or very hot water will help, followed by something like meths to remove the remaining solvent. This leaves a very small hole at the rear of the door, which holds the black plastic trim on on the S and SX.

Right i got my abarth rear bumper today, looks like the exhaust will need moving 3 or 4 inches to the left to accommodate the bumper hole, ill probably cut and weld the hanger a but to the right.

Spoiler fits great but will need drilling in.

I now have bumper, spoiler and sideskirts. Now i just need a front bumper! :)

Here's a link to the wheels im interested in, i wouldn't normally go silver, but theyre so cheap that ill have the 5 spokes painted gloss black with a polished lip:

If that link plays up, just google FOX RACING FX1 wheels (y)

Big plans in terms of bodywork and paint, something eye catching but not too showy if you get me :p im going to try and keep it secret for now ;)

Always interested in opinions! :D

Not impressed by the quality of their wheels personally. I've had 2 sets of Fox Racing alloys in the past, the first set had all 4 wheels buckled within 6 months, driving on normal roads, and the second set had a cracked weld within 5000 miles. Ended up buying a set of Khan alloys....about 3 times the price, but they did over 100'000 miles, and I still sold them on for a reasonable amount.

I've started measuring up for the false floor in the back of the car, I'll be using MDF as well as some acoustic carpet. Again, sorry for the lack of pictures ill upload them as soon as I can! :)

I will definitely start by adding 2 extra speakers, upon the realisation that it only has two! I'm hoping for more depth, and a whole lot more bass. I've got a couple of Sony xplod woofers lying around, so I will end up putting those in too :)

I've stuck in a seicento Aerial base as well, as mine was (somehow) nackered? I'm thinking of replacing the fishing line aerial with a bee sting, or something similar.

I'm getting there guys! (If abit slowly) :D

So today I've bought myself some lowering springs, poly bushes and some headlights. Well chuffed :D

Big thanks to Cinq999 for these parts, and good doing buisness with you :) sorry to hear about your car though, good luck to ya

Anyway the springs come next week, and I'll probably fit them straight away. The bushes will have to come a bit later as I have some other things to do before fitting them, moving house (y)

Thanks for all the support guys, mainly just for putting up with my persistent question-asking ;) I've got to say that this is easily the friendliest (and most knowledgeable) forum I've ever joined, great fun!

Just bought myself some 14" fiat speedlines for the cinq! Just wondering if I can chuck these on without any rubbing? (With the car dropped 40mm) I'm just test fitting them now, but the plan is to paint them white and stick some black fiat centre caps on too :D hopefully these are big enough for a brake upgrade... I know that the calipers can come off of a few cars, but for discs is the punto GT the only option?

Thanks to cento painter for these, great guy and I really appreciate it! :)
