Grande Punto Rosalia the 1.4 8V

Introduction

This is my first car, a 1.4 8V passionale red Grande Punto. I've had my Fiat for about a year and a half now, and I'm loving it.

When we first bought her:

And with a set of 15" Evo wheels:

I'm loving the forum too by the way - everyone's been very helpful!

Just fitted the new exhaust tip too, and it looks a million times better than the original

I've been dabbling in cheap chrome parts for a while, but they've each lasted only a couple of months, and don't look right either

A friend of mine helped me fit them - it came to about £100 for all of the bits and bobs, including the lights themselves at £50 - there are plenty of guides on the forum, as was mentioned earlier in this thread if you want to do it yourself. At a garage, it would've been £250 for the parts and two hours' labour.

One important thing on that front, DO NOT buy the Fiat fog light switch panel (like this one but with the front fog button)

This is because the new one will not plug straight in, and will mess with the cars 'brain', an expensive fix. We instead put a normal switch in the cavity below, a much easier and cheaper alternative

Cheers mate, that switch you've fitted looks really nice, good please to put so thanks for that!

Definitely a really tidy job and instantly modernises and makes your car look like a higher spec

Really nice mate fp, mines a 1.4 an i love it :)! loving the wheels, how much did they set you back??

Thanks mate! They're great cars aren't they :D

I was incredibly lucky with the wheels - saw an advert on gumtree that led me to an eBay auction for them. Fantastic condition for second-hand, only a year old and they ended up going for £200! I'd been told by my Fiat dealer only a week before that, brand new, they'd be £220 each exc VAT

I'd heartily recommend going second-hand if you're ever wanting to buy alloys

Again a couple of teeny bits, the Abarth headlights have been ordered and shiuld be on the car in a couple of weeks.

Black side repeaters to match them (B/A)

And I've vinyled the steering wheel controls, I didn't like the cheap plastic

Quite pleased with the tidiness actually, as the vinyl I bought turned out to be rubbish

Thanks mate, it's appreciated :D and the same with your thread :)

I've given the seats a thorough clean and they're looking miles better, but I have to say they're still sat on our living room floor haha XD very comfortable for watching the TV in though!

I've yet to get around to the modifications. I'm actually quite tempted to buy sporting seat covers instead, and make a Top Gear-style sofa set out of the Coupe leathers, but we'll see how it goes :D

Loving the sound of the top gear style sofa that would look awesome

These look really nice, I might do mine tomorrow, how difficult were they to get off please ?

The steering wheel controls mate? They're very easy to get out, two clips on either side that can be popped out with a flat-head screwdriver. The part I vinyled is a plastic cover with the buttons that sits over a kind of rubber relay, so you don't have to disconnect anything electrical if you want to wrap them. The buttons'll are clipped to the panel, so will unhook too. Safe to say the neighbours got a right shock though, I gave a fair few accidental horn blasts while trying to pull the damn things out haha :D

One question, Where? Where did you get this haha and does it just go over the previous exhaust tip as a sort of cover? ... Oh that was two questions :p

I'll get the link up as soon as I'm on the computer mate. It's a chrome tip designed for the GP I bought off eBay, less expensive than the full on Fiat ones and a much higher quality and finish than universal ones I've had the misfortune of buying before. From an insurance point of view, I don't want to meddle with the backbox and such, so it's just a tip that fits over the original exhaust with some studs you tighten with an allen key :D I'm actually quite pleased with the way it looks XD

I'll post some more pictures as we go along, maybe shed some light on the process for anyone who fancies a crack at it themselves. I'm going to try it with the bumper still attached first, a little less fiddley. If that works to no avail, we'll pull the damn thing off :D

I think I'll leave the silver grille as it is as well (being a £300 optional extra and all) despite the black head- and foglights, but we'll have a looksee in a week or so eh? :D

What's a £300 optional extra?

And I sure hope that exhaust is quite few becauee I definitely want one of those! :D

Thanks mate :) the exhaust tip can be a bit of a bugger to fit, but it's just aligning it with the bodywork really. Took me and an allen key about ten minutes :D

As far as I can tell from all of my reciepts for the car, the silver sporting front grille was a £300 optional extra for these cars (I haven't owned a GP from new, so I wouldn't know :) ) which is pretty damn steep! £200 for the upper grille, £100 for the lower part :D

I'll get a link up for the exhaust tip ASAP

Bloody hell that's expensive! I thought £85 for car mats for my cousins polo was steep haha (still do actually!)

I think I may of found the exhaust tip on ebay, was it around £15?

Here's the one mate:

Again, still quite pricey at about £40, but I must've went through at least four of the cheap chrome ones already, which came to more in total than the price of this one.

£85 for car mats! Some optional extras are ridiculously over-priced considering what you get. A bag of sand for SatNav, hundreds for alloy wheels. Porsche even charge for things they've taken out of your car.

Worth it in the end though. I'm just so glad mine's got Blue&Me - the hands-free phone kit is something I'd expect on an S-class but not a hatchback (even my dad's five-series doesn't have one!)

Haha I'm the same with blue and me, I love that my car has blue and me and steering wheel controls, it makes other cars look really basic, shame I can't play my music through it tho :( haha

Cheers for the link
