Panda (Classic) Oh man the Mrs. is NOT going to be happy...

Introduction

Well as you know I have only just come on the scene with my '87 Panda 4x4, between me and a good mate of mine we have two 4x4s that we run as daily drivers and as I'm sure many classic Panda owners know, bits are often hard to come by - especially specifics for the 4x4.

SO I've managed to get hold of a whole Panda-shaped box full of everything we need... and here she is!

Naturally I have brought her back to our house tonight and graced the driveway with her presence, to which she has replied by leaking various fluids all over the flags.
She's been sat in a field for nearly two years and I've been after her for a while now (had to wait for the price to be right!). Everything is jammed, brakes, suspension, steering, there are no keys and you can see the floor from inside the car. As far as I'm concerned she's a breaker and not a maker - but you guys and ladies may have other thoughts so please feel free to voice (or just type) your opinions. (y)
Nice one, good to have a spare just in case (y)

Those wheels look interesting. I wonder what they came off?

Love the front lights too :)

Lots of lovely little plastic interior and exterior bits on a 4x4 you don't get on 2wd's.

Let's have a look at the interior then :p

They look a lot like the ones i used to have on a Lancia Beta Coupe.

That's the ones - they are in fairly good nick to be honest with all centre caps too - all tyres are egg shaped though she's been sat on 4 flats.

As for the interior it's same as mine, olive tweed which I have already taken advantage of by steeling the door cards :D It's in pretty good condition inside apart from the drivers' seat which is warn through and the carpet in the footwells which has also warn through to what's left of the floor.

Like you say though John all the plastic bits are there inside and out which are the hard bits to get I find. She's done 108k and I got 2 spare sets of wheels, a passenger door and a bonnet spare aswell which will no doubt come in! There has been a family of mice living inside the dashboard at some point though, they've made a fabulous little nest out of the wiring loom

I can get some pics of the inside tomorrow when the sun comes up :)

That looks like a doer upper to me! But then I hate to see any die.

I'm the same, I've seen many in worse condition saved, and don't forget what 4x4s are worth now also :)

But if parts are essentially needed on the others then I can understand your reasoning.

Yes got all of the associated paperwork, I also hate to see old cars die and as much as I'd love to save it I just don't have the fundage to keep two going :(

I have ordered a second hand ignition barrel and key though so she will run before she's disassembled!

Once you turn it over you won't want to strip it

yeah and if you dont get a panda... you end up with a marbella..

would of loved to have found a 4x4 panda going for £325.. still i dont know.. the marbella is in cracking condition.

I wouldn't get ahead of yourself, just because you've gotten a Marbella doesn't mean you've fed the addiction. I can quite easily see another Panda heading your way at some point.

Hey your Marbella is in great condition man, I think she's a peach!

I am thinking that the 4x4 you are after has got to come your way soon :slayer: you'd have to dedicate some serious time and money to getting this white one back on the road, I don't deny that it can be done but she's a full split down, sandblast, weld and respray job if you want to get to the bottom of it. I've just done that to my old Mk1 Astra, 30 years of use had shot it through with rust. 3 grand later and all she needs doing now is painting

On face value that one looks restorable! My "spares" Sisley ended up with a reprieve and has now gone to a member here who will be restoring it. I really never thought it was worth doing until Vernon looked at it!!!

Top tip - get on with it if it's to be broken. If you leave it long you'll feel sorry for it & that's a slippery slope. You think it won't happen, but....... ;)
