Panda (Classic) My 4x4 - The Muddy Pics!

Introduction

Hey everyone as I've only just joined I thought I'd post some more pictures to show you lovely lot what we're all about up here in the bleak North.

Both me and my mate have Pandas, mine's the '87 and his the '89, both Italian Racing Grey.

As I've previously said, although we put the Pandas through their paces we take good care of the old lasses because we want the fun to keep coming.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoy making them! :D

Some of these pics are from a while ago, I'll get some new ones up soon :)
andyholli this is very mils damage to three points on the short drive shaft, apparently from hitting the flange's rim (it's shaft and flange rim chatter again) I recon it's from maximum articulation as discussed before.

There is planning in the pipeline for the shell but certainly one of those options will take place at some point!

As far as the point of no return goes; I have been thinking since you posted and I'd say he was already there when I got him five years ago. He's already had a pair of inner and outer sills on about six months before I took him on, as well as a respray down both sides. I can imagine the welding was done basically and not to the standard that was required to preserve the future of the shell. The respray was done by a company that I know of in Harrogate who are generally very good, but when I first got him the arches were already starting to bubble up along with that panel joint between the front wing and the A pillar.

Saying all this I haven't helped the preservation have I, he's had a seriously hard life at the back end anyway.

Re: The Suspension Lift

Hi Guys. Interesting thread. I just picked up a yr2000 panda x4 for €200. Lots of rust so saving it for the summer as v cold here now for working outside.
I am interested in this modified gearbox flange. Where exactly could i get my hands on one of these?
Thanks.
James

Re: The Suspension Lift

Don't worry guys i have found the flange for €115 + shipping i believe

Did you guys ever get to the bottom of which springs are the best for lifted pandas? The idea is to get the modified shocks but save money on springs and shipping by buying locally sourced springs. I am now in touch with my spring guy but i am getting confused as to what to ask him for? 96 or 98 year skoda felicia rear springs 10.5 coils 11mm diameter material is what i've picked up on so far. Are you guys both using them on modified shocks with a lift kit?
Thanks.
James

The spring guy is asking me which year skoda felicia and which engine size.
I told him 96 or 98 for the year and small to mid engine size. I mentioned to him that i am looking for springs with 10.6mm diameter and they should have 10.5 turns. This is to go on the modified struts which squish the springs up even more due to the cups having been moved and re-welded higher up the strut. I didn't buy anything yet but this seems to be the same kit Andy is using minus the springs.

Hi guys the spring guy got back to me and he found this spring:
Thickness/Strength 10,5 mm
Ø 101 mm
Total Length 422 mm
Does that sound about right? Ebay item is: 351379066481

James, if you are looking to buy the kit from the Italian market then do not expect to mix and match parts. The kit has been designed specifically for the car and the Italians have done a great job of constructing it.

If you want to source your own parts then go ahead and do so but it will be at your own risk.

If you are wanting to know specifics I suggest you start your own new thread or search for other existing suspension information, the information is out there.

I've been running the kit since 2013 and NEVER had a problem. I would advise you to buy the proper job.

Thanks.
