Panda (Classic) My 4x4 - The Muddy Pics!

Introduction

Hey everyone as I've only just joined I thought I'd post some more pictures to show you lovely lot what we're all about up here in the bleak North.

Both me and my mate have Pandas, mine's the '87 and his the '89, both Italian Racing Grey.

As I've previously said, although we put the Pandas through their paces we take good care of the old lasses because we want the fun to keep coming.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoy making them! :D

To be honest, I thought I had knocked the wheel arch as we slid sideways and came to a stop, a little more speed was needed to keep momentum. Think we will look for one next year when weather picks up again, should get a better price then.
 
small dint in mi sump guard, was worth it though.

A sump guard without a dent, is like a wiper without a dragonman conversion - pointless.

I'd like to debate the lift kits a bit if it isn't a thread hijack please - Last weekend's challenges stopped none of our cars, standard height, raised, four passengers or one, different engines, tyres, etc.
Would Freddy and John have chosen even better routes if we all had 5cm more under-car clearance? Don't know.

And the on-road life of mine, at least, is out of all proportion to 'off' (unfortunately, because off is more fun) so do I compromise on road cornering roll for off road capability..?

I just totally misread that innocent statement as something else.

That is not totally unheard if either Kris :p

Andy I feel that much height would not compromise the road holding that much, mainly because the front suspension setup with the lift kit is stiffer and under power mid-corner will be more successful this way. The higher centre of gravity and centrifugal force blah blah blah really won't make a noticeable difference in my eyes. PLUS more height = bigger wheel options ;)

Sorry to hear that Andy, I took a small piece out of mi alloy and a small dint in mi sump guard, was worth it though ?

Very impressed with you taking it off-road. :slayer: Incredibly I didn't hear anything hit the sump guard on the mk3 (it has got a huge dent in it from a past excursion though!). Had a few comments that it wasn't battering stuff like the mk1/2's. Apart from running out of power on the steepest bit (more speed needed lower down probably - or more than 60bhp!) it was ideal - if you're looking for a cheap off-roader you could do worse - mine was £1500 and I couldn't find a solid mk2 for that money.
 
Thanks for that Palio, I think the Mk3 Cross we first had, was a bit more nimble than the new one, but the new Cross feels solid and really well built. I was well pleased with its performance, but I think a bit more welly would have been used if my wife and son were not bricking themselves which was a bit off putting, but we got there in the end! Will definitely be looking for a Mk1 or 2 next year though?
 
Finally got car washed after the Panday, next set of rotten rims is off in for blasting. I've decided the 14s are going to take a back seat until I put a bigger engine in. They are just too big and heavy for the 999 to run on, they are hindering me noticeably up hills and causing too much upset. I've just ordered a set of 13" nobly tyres for now and I'll do some nice artwork on the standard rims to keep it individual.
