Panda (Classic) My 4x4 - The Muddy Pics!

Introduction

Hey everyone as I've only just joined I thought I'd post some more pictures to show you lovely lot what we're all about up here in the bleak North.

Both me and my mate have Pandas, mine's the '87 and his the '89, both Italian Racing Grey.

As I've previously said, although we put the Pandas through their paces we take good care of the old lasses because we want the fun to keep coming.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoy making them! :D

Some of these pics are from a while ago, I'll get some new ones up soon :)
Hadrian's fast coming back to life (again) now with another new battery after the other new battery poo'd itself all over my shed floor  and a shiny new alternator. Roofrack's back in place after three coats of tank paint and the doors are almost finished. I put the front wiper assembly back together aswell, however although it now works brilliant, I can't get it to stop! Several earth issues have been sorted, the wiring is really not loving life in this Panda.

Earth and wiring issues complete. Fixed wiper, lighter socket working for satnav... but now this...

These sections were fixed last year for the MOT by a reputable mechanic. It's now clear that he's basically filled the previous fractures with silicone

Uh oh, sorry to see that mate.

But at least you now know there's an issue and it doesn't look like the trickiest welding challenge. - Makes me feel less bad about my own ham-fisted attempts at welding rust though.

Good news on the electrics - what was the problem?

Yes well it's all getting repaired this weekend properly, after calling in a few favours.

The electrics failure was the 'servici' fuse backing, it had melted and the subsequent molten metal had got between alot of wires on the back of the fuse box. It was a fair mess but all fixed and working correctly, I've even got a very professional looking lighter socket now

I have a pair of sills AndyPanda4x4 if needs be - there with Freddy though could be got to you over the weekend if you're really stuck. :)

Massive thanks for the offer John. My roofrack-making, bullbar-mending mate from the steel works is pressing me a pair of new ones tomorrow so I should be ok, but if not I'll take you up on the offer by tomorrow evening.

Nasty. Shades of Bex. What did they charge for their silicon repair

Have you buried the culprit in some concrete foundations yet Andy?

Ha - concrete wellies was an option! He's been told, he's agreed to pay for the repairs - but he won't be doing them

So Hadrian's going for MOT in off-road spec, well there will be no problem with the tread depth on the tyres anyway. I've leant the road rims to John as my sandblasting man hasn't come through in time to get his rims finished.

Well the welding was supposed to get done this weekend just gone ready for MOT this week... but it didn't!

SO onto to backup plan number three with favour call-in number three. I'll have to remember never to do work for people again when they say "I'll owe you one".

I just hope nothing serious comes to light when those silicone sills are peeled off

Glad the original welder has taken a telling and agreed to cough up. Shame about the welding this weekend though :( you will get there though im certain!

Looking beasty Andy, I'm going to get some new tyres for mine before Italy...are those available on 13" wheels as well? Didn't appear to be on tyres direct at least...I'll probably just buy some more Malatesta Trac stuff but maybe worth shopping around (assuming I can still as tyres direct are out of stock it seems :()

Hope all goes well with the sills...reminds me of a mini which we bought that had sill repair plates glued on over the rusty ones!
