Hello to everyone,

I've been following the forums but haven't had the time to make a thread of my car

Currently driving a Grande Punto Sport 1.4 T-JET, and comming from the Starjet (which looked better in Carribean Orange :p) there's a massive difference. This is my 3rd Punto so far, I had a MK2 1.2 16V, then a Grande 1.4 16V, now the T-JET

Got my t-jet from the Fiat dealer with 1800km on it, I've just passed 6500 now.

Some pics of the car:

Right, I give up searching the net and the forum, i cannot trace the problem i have, and it's getting on my nerves!

The car started to develop a strange vibration which I felt through the pedals, since like day 2! I went to the dealer and they said it's normal, it will go away...and it did, briefly, until it got back. I could feel the vibrations through the steering wheel, floor, seat, pedals (clutch and a little less on the throttle) especially on a cold start.

I went to the dealer again, they said top engine mount (or left one, if you open the bonnet) ... on 6000km, yeh, blame the roads! Ok, ordered a new one, whilst waiting 2 and a half weeks, vibrations worsened day after day

Today, it has arrived, they changed it under warranty...the vibrations that I felt in the lower range (like some sort of resonance) are almost gone, but i got them back at higher rpm, over 3500! Bloody hell it is annoying, i can feel them especially on clutch when shifting and throttle pedal now if i push it above 3500-4000rpm. The vibrating is like having a constantly vibrating cell phone under foot, but of higher frequency. Engine is rock solid, I've checked the bottom mount and the one on the gearbox myself, they are fine.

Car is apsolutely fine in terms of acceleration, clutch bite point, gear changing the lot...except for those god damn vibrations

Any clues on where to further investigate?

you still got the vibrations? i to want to get Eibachs pro just waiting for them to fix the roads hahaha :p

Ohh, been away from the forums, 4 weeks, I'm hopeless lol..well eh i must have got used to them and not paying attention anymore to the vibrations, they checked everything they could, all mounts seem fine, everything is spot on. I'm suspecting the gearbox mount, I'll do a detailed check my self when i can. It's not weird to me for a mount to fail, my uncle drives a Yeti, an engine mount on it failed and that's an SUV...damn roads... I want Eibach Pro's as well but them roads...we'll be changing the whole front end more often haha

If you do get prolines, I wanna feel the ride with them

In the meantime, I've done this

The guy is insane (y), he worked for 10 hours on the car, now it's spotless...there were a lot of swirls from bad car washes, using them washing machines but now that's all gone.

Here is the full album, a lot of pictures

Still looking at remap/tuning box options, don't know which way to go

Oh, and I switched to Osram Nightbreaker Plus aswell and installed the sub, Magnat Active Reflex 300A

like a brand new car! haha how much did it cost all up? considering my suspension is stiff from the factory it feels really nice, but it's missing a strut brace to tie it together. The pro's would brake my car considering the roads we got haha.. the tuning box would be the best buy as you can remove it when ever you want or if your selling your car, and if your booking your car in for a service you can just yank it out so it wont void the warrenty.

@Q dance - It all cost a mere 57 eur + the trip to Prilep :D

I'm not sure on these tuning boxes for a few reasons: TMC's box is quite expensive at 332 pounds, plus shipping extras, plus tax when it comes to MK, but it has proven gains and it's the most used solution here on the forums

The Racechip solution seems fine, I can source one much easier but, from what I've seen on the net, although there are gains on power with that box, the gains aren't up to the claimed figures. I got one in my dads car, a Kuga 2.0 TDCI, it says it will bring the power up from 140 - 178 hp and yes, it does feel faster, but nowhere near the claimed 178hp.

Remap - no one can do it here, SM Chip tuning closed down so I'm left with a few options in Greece, to be precise I've been looking at revlimit.gr - proven maps, proven gains, can even make maps for 95 and 98 octane seperately, plus they gave me the turbo pressure with each map seperately. Problem is, it's not as versatile as a tuning box and I am still under warranty - till June 2014

Have you looked into upgraded subframe braces, like the ones from Forge for the GP? That might help :)

@T Jet - It's not a huge rattle, not a rattle by any means, just like some resonance comming through the cabin, not much, but sometimes it annoys be to death. It's not whel bearing, vibrations are there both when stationary and on the move

The ones holding the airbox to the chasis? There is also one on the engine mount, I'll check it later on, it could be that :)

EDIT: Here is a video of something similar

Not my car, or a Fiat and the vibration isn't as much as on the video, it isn't audible, but you can feel it

Hai,

One samall update - getin' the car remapped on wednesday :D

http://www.revochip.com

Their database is old, I spoke with the owner, he said anything up to the region of 165hp, we'll see how it goes.

The car will be mapped, but their new dyno isn't ready yet, map will be optimised mid september on the dyno :)

11 000km, no problems whatsoever :)

Car remapped, figures are optimistic (165hp, 281nm), I will give you true numbers when i dyno it :D

Car is quicker, 3rd gear is like 2nd before (y)

However, one small issue - when i max it out on top speed, @210KMh car seems to go in Limp Mode but no check engine or warning whatsoever...its like it goes off boost and I have to stop, shut it down and turn it back on, then it's fine.

Driven the car 210 before, no problemos at all...hopefully I will get it sorted out this Weekend

EDIT: Map will be sorted out tomorow, problem is in peak boost so the boost will be lowered down, loosing some 10hp...oh well, still got 150 :)

Looking very nice. (y) I love them two photos. Are they professional or did you take them yourself?

Cheers guys :)

Photos are taken by QDance himself, he done his magic on them...I am still awaiting on more photos, we made a nice photoshoot, but I only have these two, the rest is to come... He is mad, just look at the pics (y)(y)

Car shines in RL too, after 5 months of washing it, the first wax that i put on 5 months ago was still there...That's the Sonax shampoo for ya, doesn't eat the wax...now I've re-waxed it for the winter

By mid this month, if all goes to plan, the car will be converted to an Abarth setup:

VL36 Turbo
Brand new Abarth clutch set (I don't want problems, and for 190 eur, why not)
Software

Expecting 175hp using 95oct fuel :)

Sounds good. Can't wait to see the progress of this little beasty!
