Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet

Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet

Next plans are to give it a good polish and interior cleaning, + the headlights and I think for now it might be it...Unless I stumble upon a good set of wheels :)

Performance wise, plan is:

TD04 + NA cams, that would bring it up to the 260hp mark...However I can't seem to find NA cams here, I've only found 1.2 16V 80hp ones, but they are no good to me (they have smaller lift compared to 1.4 95hp or Punto MK1 1.2 86hp)

So I guess I will have to settle for selling the GT1446 and go TD04 only with around 225-235hp (Up from current 210)

Sounds good, but all that cash for another 15 bhp.. Ain't worth it to me, but it's your car and your money :)

Looking good :)

Abarth headlights on

Strange though, original headlights were with S2 8 pin connector, even though they were chrome/silver...

Mine was the opposite haha! I had the grey sporting s2 headlights but they had the yellow s1 connectors, 14 hole I think. Never heard of the s2 connector on the s1 headlights though, it is strange! Oh well at least you checked unlike me :) lovely car by the way

I haven't had it on a dyno (tuner was upgrading their dyno), but it is somewhere in the region of 310-330nm

For the clutch, I had the abarth clutch swapped in, but something went wrong with it so I now have the stock TJet 120 S1 clutch. No problems so far, no slip at all, which is rather interesting.

That is interesting! I'm running 233 ft lbs torque and I do have some clutch slip at peak torque however I'm obviously not letting it slip at the moment.

I was going to go with an uprated dual friction clutch however if a new standard clutch will do the job then I may just go with that. Decisions decision

Thing is, TD04 boosts higher up in the rev-range, peak at ~3500, that might be helping a bit, but it's not even near the capacity - I run 1.2 bar at 7000

However, I suggest just go with the Abarth clutch, same price :)

PS. 233ft lbs is mighty torque for VL36...I ran 206ft lbs with the VL36

Thanks for the information so far mate! Yeah the torque is quite high however it's not too strange, I've seen higher from the vl36 too.

With regards to the clutch, I believe the Abarth Grande Punto uses the same clutch as the t-jet anyway (for s2 anyway).

I will be making my decision over the next month or so, standard/Abarth clutch or an uprated, if I knew the standard/Abarth could handle the torque then I'd just do that.

Nice mods there mate. Where did you get the intake pipe from? Looks good.

Alex, if you go uprated, I would suggest doing a whole kit, Single Mass flywheel + reinforced clutch. Get rid of that DMF. If not, let me know what you find on uprated clutch kits without SMF :)

j6pkp - The intake pipe was custom made from Inox, Ф70 on the filter side and made to the proportions of this pipe:

http://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/gr...ai-grande-punto-abarth-alfa-mito-tjet.aspx#!/

However, the way the filter sits behind the wheel-arch, gets hit by alot of water - and we don't want water in the engine, so I modified it to be like this :)

Need to look for a pipe like that, but being tight I don't fancy spending over £100 on one from gsr.
If only there weren't all the pipes going from the intake it could be made cheaply!

You want the filter at an angle of 90deg - Car goes way better with pipe having atleast one bend of 90deg - if you have the factory 45deg, car dies at higher rpm, I have no idea why, some physics involved which I can't be bothered to investigate, lol. And you don't want silicone, silicone creates slightly more friction than the inox/alu, and it is more expensive :)

PS. I paid 30eur for mine, only the material cost, so you can probably have it custom made at under 100 quid :)
