Doblo My Doblo....

Introduction

My first Fiat.Wifey gonna use it for her sweet stall... anything to watch out for?
Hi,

Great cars. The things to look out for are all over this site, but wheel tracking etc., and the fact that the wiper linkages can fail are possibly the most common problems.

Mine had replacement front wishbones at about 80K and a replacement wiper motor and linkages at c.30K, but apart from that nothing much other than replaceables. I sold it at 100K with the back silencer box still intact.

I had the 1.9JTD, other engines I know little about.

But do drive it well, don't labour the engine, do let it idle for a bit after a run before switching off, don't rev the engine hard when it's cold, and make sure you drive like an Italian sometimes :D

Hi Dazza

Looks like a versatile vehicle your wife has there.

Doblos can go for massive mileages (see my sig) so it's worth taking the time and trouble looking after it properly. Always treat it gently until it's fully warmed up but also give it an occasional 'clear out ;)' as a form of preventative maintenance.

1.2 engine - slow but simple/cheap to repair
1.4 engine - getting there but still slow
1.3 engine - Fiats turbo diesel engine is surprisingly good, cam chain tensioners wear around 75k
1.9 engine - awful lucas epic system, requires new high pressure pump every 50-60k
1.9 JTD engine - definitely pick of the bunch, very reliable engine (used in many models and alfas) but remember to renew cam belt and water pump every 5 years. 50mpg.

Build wise the doblo is very good, no worse than any other manufacturer. A good choice.
