Much like cleaning aluminium in caustic soda before you do any anodising on it.

Lets face it, you don't do this kind of cleaning every year. Only when you know there is a contamination issue when the coolant is not the correct colour.

BTW have you seen how well rocker covers come up in a dishwasher, they don't seem to melt :eek:
 
I asked that very same question. Turns out thats a rinse aid thingy. It being harder that the rest of the tablet though I have crushed them up if using them, don't want it to foul the impeller
 
All fluids changed and the dishwasher tablet worked a treat. So we have been out and about in Charlie and I have to say he is a treat on the road. I have pics but as I've said I will have to upload one per post.... The first is the clock.

Looks like the date display from the back to the future delorean..80s high tech ftw!

Thankyou....it has rust in a few places and the pics don't pickup on this..still love driving him and looking forward to the show on the 1st April..:D

I will be dumping the oil again soon for another fresh oil and filter after another Italian tune up to and from the show.
