Punto (Mk2/2b) Mk2 5 Door 1.2 Punto

Introduction

Hi people

I go the car back in August for £1000 full service history with 62,000 miles not a single scratch on it, used to be a ex company car. Since I have changed the front bumper to a colour coded sporting one as it is the very basic 1.2 version and I hate the grey ones. Have also changed out the old stereo to a more up to date one with mp3, usb and stuff. Have also added two 10cm rear speakers on either side of the parcel shelf

I am still looking for a 5 door silver rear bumper but having no luck on ebay. What else do you guys recommend as I don't know where to start! I am going to get a focus induction kit and possibly a sporting spoiler and find some cheap alloys as well as some side skirts. Any suggestions?
Haven't updated this in a while but the alloys are all fitted and give a ton more grip due to being 195's with some better tires on. It however feels a little higher which will probably end up lowering it a little at some point.

Not sure really what else to do now :/

Dont suppose you would like some 5dr wind deflectors. Never been used and are in the original packaging. I paid £30 for them and they dont fit mine as my car is 3dr and i ordered the wrong ones :(. But im willing to give them away for £20 :)
If anyone does want them just give us a shout :).

I am going to replace the speedo cluster with one with a tachometer, I have read up on this and one with a higher mileage can be proxy'd whereas a lower one can't? If so I'm guessing this would be a perfect for a straight swap:

Just ordered all the parts to give it a full service at some point next week.

firstly welcome to the forum :)

you need to buy one with lower millage than your current clocks. then pay FIAT or somebody with fiatecuscan to proxy align.

direct fit yes

You'll need a speedo thats done 60-69k, this will be difficult when most puntos these days sit at 80-100+ but if you find one lower than yours, its just simple as connecting it up then hook the car up to MultiECUScan then run the proxi-alignment process, itll take a few mins for this to complete then, youll need to do the mileage correction (write to odometer) and select from drop down boxes the mileage you wish your car to be at, example 70,000. Then excute it. And new mileage should come up on the trip computer. Its simple as that :)

Hope this helps,

Ben

i have now 178.000 and the speedo indicates 98.000 (my choice) and no flashing, everything is fine

you can put all speedos!!!

Not in UK we have strict regulations, if your mileage is recorded at 70,000 miles at last MOT, andif they see for example 50,000 miles on speedo on next MOT they'd instantly fail the car for having the incorrect mileage. Plus its against the law to have lower mileage than what the car is at.

Don't know what your law states over there for mileages, but pulling that sort of stunt over here, you're asking for trouble...

law? not even... but if you have 50.000 in the MOT you can have 55.000 now ;)
i havent passed MOT for 4 years maybe more.... i am bored to do it;)

You havent passed MOT for 4 years....
Says it all really

Heres a clearer example for you....

Guy takes Punto in for MOT mileage is at 71,000 miles thats recorded on VOSA database, car passes MOT. 12 months fly by guy takes Punto in for MOT and his speedo now says 51,000 miles....MOT guys reaction "WTF?! FAIL" he would assume owner has tampered with the mileage to be lower than it should, which over here in the UK is highly illegal.

You have to buy a speedo thats lower than your real mileage, then write to odometer and set it at the cars mileage it finished at on last speedo for example 71,100 so you'd put that on the new speedo and MOT guy would be happy with that and continue on with his MOT checks.

We would all love to have our Puntos at low mileage but we have to obide the laws to stay legal on the roads.

Ben
