Grande Punto my grande punto, 1.4 8v :D

Introduction

so here goes, my first members thread..

Well i got the car in january of last year, after having a nissan micra, 2 vauxhall corsa's and a peugeot 306, i needed a change, so i went down to the dealership and forked out for this.

there she/he stood. The newest car iv owned.

So i immediatly washed it, which didnt turn out like i expected, i expected that glossy look, the look that water beads on ect but i got this...

Next a few months after i went about lowering it. I lowered it on cheapo ebay springs... bad move.. looked ok but ride was harsh :(

so thats where im up to, apart from some interior mods and my exhaust.

i do have plans tho ..

Plans

  • Abarth/Sporting headlights and fogs
  • 'induction' kit (purely for the noise)
  • Exhaust
  • New alloys
  • Tinting
  • ICE
  • and a surprise ;)

Boooooooooooooooooooooost! :D

i do love boooooooooooooooooooost but i gota make do with the 8v, with hopefully a 16v head on soon enough :)

while im on the subject of 16v heads, am i right in thinking that a 16v head offa mk2 punto will fit? also are the heads the same on the 1.2/1.4 16v?

also would i need a remap for it to work?

:( steering woes continue, i know i shouldnt be doing this, but i accidently wheel span it in the wet and my god it sounded like, well like something metal was slapping against something else metal in the steering collum... its not the best description, but thats all i can think about :/

Faith in fiat restored!

Yesh my steering is fixed tis a good day! It was one of the bolts on the steering collum shaft thingy. According my mechAnic mate the bolt was incredibly loose.

On another note got a sharkfin, a proper one not a dud so hopefully fitting that in a few days, along with side skirts bought from iPunto90 so few pics coming soon :D

Re: Re: my grande punto, 1.4 8v :D

Thats great news mate I am pleased its fixed :D

Haha so am i! I was considering paying off my finance and gettin rid but strangely i like this car! Anyways next few months should be fun :) i have plans... 16v head, cams and remap, and possibily a spray or my bumpers and skirts :) oh and new alloys :D

hey everybody! not much to report today, smoked my side repeaters, they need another coat or two but the results are in the pics :)

on other notes, do the 1.4 16v from mk2 punto or a tjet engine out of a stilo fit?

Looks good :)

Dont bother with the engine swap espeically since you can buy it from factory with the bigger engine. I say this because by the time
Youve messed with everything and told your insurance your prob going to be paying more than if you where to just jnsure a normal tjet/mjet

this is what i thought, but i did a few quotes and a bit of looking around, and im not paying much more if i declare an engine replacement im paying 20quid more, if i change car im paying alot more as iv only just bought it... catch 22 if you ask me

besides, if i do anything, it will probs be the 16v head, cams and remap tbh.

oh sideskirts going on in the next week :D cant wait, once i get paid getting a splitter from the ole bay, and re-doing my side repeaters with tinting spray :) oh and should be getting my dint sorted :D

all happening soon :D just before my trip to ireland :D

:'( so today i thought, great, weathers ok, lets do a service.... got spark plugs out.... ends where white which my garage mate said... ' thats perfect combustion that is'... i was a tad skeptable..... anywhos, oil filter changed, come to the sump.... my god it is rusty, so much so oil is leaking out :/

new sump it is then... and i was going to get the underbody braces and hopefully then new engine this month but no :/

as you can guess im getting a tad p/offed with this car

i found em a tad fiddly tbh, best is to drop the bumper (which i didnt do cause i have massive hands and couldnt get into the small gap :()

on a side note, these are up for sale if you want...
Ah okay, i think ill just get mine fly-eye tinted for the moment :)

Bit of simple maintence today :/ car decided it didnt like water yesterday, managed to get it to a mates garage where I found out that it wasnt a hose that was broked oh no it was part of the thermostat housing :/ to explane more, it looks like one of the smaller hoses and this one goes into the heater matrix (garage mate said that) and its connected by a plastic screw/nut thingy. Its this screw and nut thingy thats snapped. As no scrappys in my area have any grande puntos main dealer was the only option :/ main stealers said "oh you cant buy that part you have to buy the whole housing.... costing 47quid +vat... brilliant!
