Grande Punto my grande punto, 1.4 8v :D

Introduction

so here goes, my first members thread..

Well i got the car in january of last year, after having a nissan micra, 2 vauxhall corsa's and a peugeot 306, i needed a change, so i went down to the dealership and forked out for this.

there she/he stood. The newest car iv owned.

So i immediatly washed it, which didnt turn out like i expected, i expected that glossy look, the look that water beads on ect but i got this...

Next a few months after i went about lowering it. I lowered it on cheapo ebay springs... bad move.. looked ok but ride was harsh :(

so thats where im up to, apart from some interior mods and my exhaust.

i do have plans tho ..

Plans

  • Abarth/Sporting headlights and fogs
  • 'induction' kit (purely for the noise)
  • Exhaust
  • New alloys
  • Tinting
  • ICE
  • and a surprise ;)

Tangerine orange for wheels and mirror caps ;) Kawasaki green is overly done IMO. I'm hoping to do red alloys + caps soon. Already got my caps done, just looking for wheels currently.

orange wheels on a red car tho? And i havnt seen any red gp's with kawasaki green wheels, yet... wonder if its a sign that it just doesnt go haha!

anywho i have a wish list...

  1. 1.4 16v head and cams
  2. manifold, 4-2-1 jobbie :D

expensive, yes but as im guna stick with this for a while, why not!

does anyone know btw if i get the 16v head and cams, will i need to change anything else? will i need a remap?

oh and its my 100TH THREAD! i feel so special :D

Orange on red doesn't clash per se, and i think it'll really work if you get the right colour orange done in the right places. (ie, alloys, caps, even skirts, splitter, diffuser) stuff like that, would set the car off IMO.

For the record i meant Kawasaki Green is over done on cars in general. When people go for a garish in your face colour Kawasaki Green is the first colour they go too, so if it were me i'd be different.

And its your 100th post, not thread ;) Haha, there'd be repucussions if it were your 100th thread with the same amount of posts haha :slayer:

dam and now i cant edit it :(

oh well its my 101st POST ;) haha oh right, i get ya! yea it was the first colour i thought of :D

what orange you thinking of? i just dont want to do white or black, my mate has got a scooby wagon with yellow wheels... kinda works i suppose

so say i was going to do this, how many spray cans would i need?

reason for spray cans.... there fiat 15" alloys, nothing special so i dont see why i should powder coat them ...

also, how do ya get the mirror caps off?

2-3 cans aught to get you a nice finish, maybe. With them being alloys already coated in something you may need more, or better yet primer first then spray your colour. I used 1 can per wheel when i sprayed my steelies red, and they were just standard black before. I used a lot of paint though to make sure they were RED

As for the mirror caps i found it easier with two people. I got my brother to stand the door side and hold the mirror firmly, whilst i stood the engine side facing back up the car. Hold firmly and sort of wiggle/twist the cap 'away' from the car, and pull toward you slightly as you do so. Like anything coming off the car the first time they are a bit stiff, but they sort of pop off and out as you do this motion. A lot of people say its near impossible to remove without breaking a clip or two, i had no such trouble and have removed them countless times now and not broken a single clip.

Does that make sense? So grab, twist away from the car on each side, and wiggle/pull toward you. Should come right off.

so lights are on, but having a few teething problems, the canbus error light is on, well i think its the canbus error light, yellow/orange tirangle with a '!' inside, its on at start up but it goes off soon after :s

dont know what iv done, iv wired them all up correctly everything works as it should, im at a loss tbh

thats what im going to do :) although i cant remember which wire is which :( i mean theres a blue/black wire, and a red wire, one is the 50ohm one one is the 1000 ohm one lol

and i didnt in the first place cause i was too impatient and didnt scroll down.. school boy error on my part.

in other news, my white led's came for my footwell, along with my new headlight bulbs :D

oh and now i have two fuses out :) which will be sorted on monday after iv finished my night shift :D

Right fuses sorted, sorta, interior lights work, mirrors work my cigarette lighter however doesnt... doesnt bother me on short journeys but on long ones it does as i use it to charge my phone up.. anyways, the fuses by the glove compartment are fine, the ring around the ciggy lighter lights up, but it doesnt work so it makes me thing that i need a new ciggy lighter, unless iv missed something....

fitted my bulbs, much better light now :)

foot well leds will be fitted on sunday/monday (only day i get off from work)

on brighter news been doing quotes for my insurance, all mods declared for only £735... brilliant :)

oh and im after some abarth fogs if anyone knows of any ;)

and some sideskirts...

and a lip splitter :D

but not all at once haha!

Oh no!

I have a water leak :/ its slight, but enough for me to notice! cam out of the gym with a puddle of water underneath my car, checked under the bonnet ad it looks like its coming from one of the hoses.. will get a picture tomorrow :(

hi and thanks :) got the from a member on here :) really nice guy :) iPunto90 :)

hopefully its just a clip :/ but now i have another issue, a steering issue :(

iv noticed (might be making too much of it) but when im stationary, and i move my steering wheel there feels like, well movement.. its hard to explane it feels like theres a certain amount of movement BEFORE the wheels start to turn. anyone help me with this?
