Seicento My Little Red Sei...

Introduction

Well this is my pretty much standard Red(ish) Seicento...

I've had it since September last year, was at 71,000 miles and we're now up to 78,000 and now going stronger than ever :)

I haven't done much yet, mainly due to my insurance being so high since I'm 18.

Had an oil change & an ITG Foam Filter. Also got a new clutch and rear wheel bearings along with a new handbrake cable.

And of course I had to fit Abarth centre caps and black/red floor mats ;)

I've got some drilled discs and new OMP Sport pads to go on sometime soon.

(Sorry about the picture quality, I used my phone)

The sei is now back from the garage with a new clutch, an oil change (Millers 10w40) and an exhaust that doesn't blow! (Studs had to be drilled out of the P75 manifold)

It's running much quicker now although it still isn't 100%, I suspect the timing may be a tooth out, that or possibly coil packs. It doesn't have full power high up the revs and the ecu is giving me - Random/multiple missfire errors.

That said, even as it is now, it's faster than the standard P75 before it :)

I just whipped the cambelt off and re-timed it in the dark and it was a tooth out at the top, now runs sweet as a nut :D

Coolant change tomorrow evening and a phonic wheel re-learn!

Edit: I now realise I missed a perfect opportunity to refit the the cambelt cover...

The sei survived the 340 mile round trip to Silverstone and back with no issues whatsoever, therefore I now declare this engine 'solid' :) It also got 49mpg, which happens to be exactly what the 1108 got when I made this trip last year....

Also a new map sensor I purchased on the advice of PAN366E has turned up and it has solved the weird 'pulsing' acceleration at full throttle :D

I have another cam cover gasket on it's way so I can reseal it again, since I never bothered when I put this engine in but it's leaking down the front again. That'll be sorted at the weekend!

I resealed the cam cover again at the weekend (a lot less sealant this time), we'll see how long it lasts this time...

Sure is looking clean in there :D

Plans are now in the works for modifying the P75 inlet to fit, hopefully that will free up some more power

The modified P75 inlet should be ready soon, here's a couple pictures of the progress:

Fitting for the MPI map sensor:

I've been told there is a world of difference between the plastic inlet and the P75 one so I'm rather excited to get it fitted :slayer:

I will be running a 1.2 16v TB on it instead of the P75 one, this will make swapping the induction kit over easier and I won't need a different throttle cable. This is of course dependant on it fitting under the bonnet in the first place ....

I will be fitting the Punto alternator and pulley with harmonic damper this weekend, should hopefully stop it giving me the EML light for a missfire when it's at 4k rpm/80mph.

Near fix with the MAP sensor!

What injectors are you running?

Currently running the standard injectors and I will continue to do so when this manifold goes on. In theory they should be able to flow enough for something like 100bhp, so if I'm able to get the 85bhp or more I'm hoping for they should be ok.

However if it does end up getting a remap at some point I will be sticking some larger 16v 4-jet injectors in :yum:

The P75 inlet went on this weekend and the results are very good. It's a total mess at the moment and many things need changing but it goes far better than before on the plastic inlet.

Here it is at the moment:

It's currently running a 16v TB although this is giving me problems as the ICV doesn't seem to be working and it's at the wrong angle so I'm having issues with the throttle cable. I have added a spacer onto the cable at the pedal end so I can get about 92% throttle opening now. It also has a minor air leak somewhere but I will worry about that later.

The plan is to get the P75 TB bored out to 42mm and combine it with a Palio bob and put together a proper induction kit. I will be getting a longer pipe and routing the breather under the car so it doesn't drip on anything. I'm also going to be on the look out for some larger injectors and an spi throttle cable.

Anyway the result is that it's now pretty quick, it feels like it really needs a remap and would benefit from the rev limiter being raised a little as it pulls hard all the way. Sounds epic on the overrun as well

ICV not working?

If it's not working properly take a hacksaw to your old Sei TB & use the one out of that -they're exactly the same (i've got a gash TB i can nick one out of & post to you if you haven't got your Sei TB anymore).
A spacer on the pedal end???? WOT?.... If you're using the Sei cable bracket on the 16v TB you need to make a plate to space it out & line it up (think mine was 12mm but i can measure it tomorrow).
Have you tried running 14" wheels yet or are you still on the 13" Sei alloys? As i mentioned weeks ago the engine/gearbox is for 14" wheel vehicle so give that a try. Simple enough to do -wait untill Lee is asleep, take a trolley jack & some bricks.... best to replace them before he wakes up as he might read this.

This TB has the bolt on sensors, I was intending to buy another sensor (£10 on ebay), however it's not an issue as it runs fine with the icv jammed up, just idles about 1400. Since I'm going to the P75 TB in due course it doesn't seem worth faffing about with it.

This is the reason I've had to space the pedal end instead:

On the P75 inlet the TB is tilted forwards, meaning the throttle cable is blocked regarding any adjustment. The way to solve this would be to raise the TB up which in turn will make it too high to fit any induction kit on and still be able to shut the bonnet.

I have no idea what you're saying here, I'm lost..... In answer to your question I'm running the 13" alloys and standard 5 speed :)

There is a lack of photos at the moment but the P75 TB is now on and it's running perfectly :D

I'm currently using an 899 bob but there is a palio one in the post so hopefully it will be sorted by the weekend. Along with an Abarth stud kit so I can finally fit my spacers and stop the wheel destroying itself on the ARB bracket :)

These should be here by friday as well, I can now have a matching set!

New tyres are on and the grip is now exceptional :D Things at the moment are very bodge-tastic but one day it will be complete!

No sign of any bits yet so I'm stuck with the 899 bob for a little longer. It now needs a crank seal, not suprising considering how long the engine sat around. I've also got some conduit on the way to tidy up the messy wiring.

I will be ordering some pipe to sort out the breather and lose the can. I'm going to look into reconnecting the charcoal canister to the induction kit when the Palio bob arrives since I'm getting pretty tired of the EML light being on.

Here's a couple photos: (not had a wash for over a month)

Finally had a wash!

I've got several bits on order now to complete the induction kit. The palio bob will be fitted and everything should be sorted by the weekend. With a vac line to reconnect the charcoal canister and some conduit, the wiring will be tidy again and no more EML light. A new coolant temperature sensor is on the way, hopefully I should see a little more than 30mpg from it soon.

Next step is an oil catch can, very high revs seem to result in a very oily mess so I'd rather put it through a can than directly connect it back to the intake.

So this was finally sorted today:

It's now got power past 6k rpm :D

On the downside I grinded into 2nd earlier and it seems to have shat itself. If it gets worse I'll be looking for a new gearbox, I'm thinking I may as well whack a 6 speed in if it's being changed anyway. I do have a 6 speed already but it's believed to be very low ratio and very strong (with an LSD). However I'm not keen on having low ratios nor a potential oil leak...
