Seicento My Little Red Sei...

Introduction

Well this is my pretty much standard Red(ish) Seicento...

I've had it since September last year, was at 71,000 miles and we're now up to 78,000 and now going stronger than ever :)

I haven't done much yet, mainly due to my insurance being so high since I'm 18.

Had an oil change & an ITG Foam Filter. Also got a new clutch and rear wheel bearings along with a new handbrake cable.

And of course I had to fit Abarth centre caps and black/red floor mats ;)

I've got some drilled discs and new OMP Sport pads to go on sometime soon.

(Sorry about the picture quality, I used my phone)

There definately is none of those squirters in the block :( they'd stick out lile a sore thumb... and we had our heads under there for a good 10 mins looking lol....

So hopefully we can get this hoist today and the vice to squish the polymount in... also need to find a way of removing the crank cambelt pulley... as it destroyed a couple of my extension bars yesterday... so a trip to halfrauds to get those replaced will be needed :p

And all go for the engine swap at the weekend :)

Bloody hell mate, you move fast! Makes me feel guilty that my engine isn't done yet... ;)

You've put a crapload of slicone on that sump!

I'll be interested to see what sort of power this makes, what exhaust manifold are you going for?

So far we now have a hoist ready to go, been to halfrauds for replacement tools, the crank pulley has now had a nut gun on it and the car is loaded up ready for this evening/tomorrow!

You need to get yours done, it's a far more thorough rebuild than mine though so you have an excuse :p

Just want to get it in, been waiting roughly a year to sort myself out, get an engine and get it done. Picked up the engine saturday before Stanford, stripped it, ordered parts, painted it, got a 3/4 day turnaround on the head work and now it's all back together (aside from mpi stuff I need to poach from mine) and ready to go in :D

The sump appears to be the wrong one anyway, not wide enough so someone (probably the dealership) have cut the holes out and used washers along one side. It's a proper mess, also appears the crank has mashed the sump at one end, on the brightside it shouldn't hit it again now it's done it once lol I will get a new one at some point...

Exhaust manifold is standard P75...

We made quite a bit of progress in roughly 3 hours last night...

The engine is completely disconnected now, today we need to drain the oil, remove the driveshafts and the 1108 will be out!

The next job is then to get the P75 on the stand, finish rebuilding it with the seicento mpi parts that need to be swapped over, the inlet manifold looking to be the hardest part as it will need some help sealing properly. Get the poly mounts sorted and put the new engine in. The exhaust is also going to need some helpfrom a grinder and possibly some welding. The P75 manifold gives loads of clearance compared to the standard manicat and it shouldn't melt my bonnet release anymore...

Hopefully we will have it running by this evening...

So at exactly 98,600 miles my seicento became a 1.2 :D

Everything is in apart from the cooling system, the exhaust needs welding up and the inlet needs resealing as it won't idle properly. Will also need to attach another lambda and wrap it in foil since there is only one boss on the P75 downpipe. Although there is a second threaded hole in the downpipe but it appears to be too small to fit a lambda in?

Today's update...

Well it is running a little better now, the exhaust has been welded up and sounds really rather loud :p the inlet however is still not fully sealed up but it's driveable for the moment. I'm running with one lambda right now so my EML is permanently on...

The bad stuff:

We spent hours trying to get the inlet to seal and now my head is a proper mess from all the silicone sealant :( managed to drop it down a couple mm so it's sealed enough to drive, sometimes it idles normallly, most of the time it hunts between 1.5-2k revs.

The crank seal is ruined, oil is pissing out and going all over the underside of the car so thats on the urgent to do list along with resealing the manifold properly. I need to put some proper anti freeze in and a new oil filter, also swap the wires on my rad fan since it spins backwards haha

The cambelt side poly mount we did manage to fit has ruined all comfort, it's very noisy, shakes alot and my dashboard is falling apart. The rev counter no longer lights up and the steering coloumn rattles. I'm considering going with standard mounts soon as it seems uneccassary.

The good stuff:

The engine, if it idles properly, is nice and quiet with no tapping or knocks.

It's really quick, revs freely and pulls right round to 7k  It isn't 16v fast but I wasn't expecting it to be and I'm not in any way disappointed. It is however way faster than the 1108 which is the main thing, overall I'm really chuffed with it :D

Of course lots of thanks to @Lecook for helping out massively over the most stressful weekend I can remember having... although it's not quite finished yet...

See if the correct info had been given then we wouldnt of had to remove and refit the bloody inlet 3 times.... by the 3rd time we were so stressy we just started filling all the voids with rtv... to then realise the top of the inlet didnt seal by around 5mm... so out came the hammer and screwdriver... removed the loacting dowls in the inlet and hey presto... it sealed and ran fine.... then I realised smart ass here (me) hadnt fitted the seal on the coolant side of the inlet.. so... off it came... and then would it reseal... would it f#*k but as said.. it runs.. drives... and its faster then it was...

Day off tomorrow though to spend some time with the missus as shes been neglected for the last 2... then crank seal and inlet again on tuesday.

I thought Ben was your missus? :p:p:p
Really wish you lived close to me to so you could help me out with my car
Is there a FF award for someone who goes way beyond the call of duty to help out a mate?

Na hes too ugly :p and hes got OCD issues :p AND he doesn't own a kettle... so I didnt even get cups of tea :O and thats just too much for me to handle lmao

To be fair hes helped me a good few times... he rescued my missus when she had a flat tyre once in the morning... (around 6am when it was his day off) i was at work so obviously couldnt do anything

Although tracking down a engine hoist... varoius tools... running his head to and from the machine shop whilst hes at work...and then building the engine up... then spending 2 and a half days and maybe another half day tomorrow :( sorting it so he can go to work on wednesday.... I think I deserve a award :p

judging by his face last night and the texts I got this morning hes loving driving it with the bigger engine :)

i found that engine, i claim partial credit :p

The engine certainly is very good :D

Today I whipped the inlet off again, cleaned up the seals and removed some more RTV from everything then stuck it back on again using the flanged nuts from the 1108, pushed it down as far as it will go and did it up very tight and problem solved! No more air leak! :slayer:

It now runs perfectly, pulls very well, revs freely and idles properly. Also it no longer hesistates/misses under acceleration and it sounds rather good

I picked up a new crank seal today (It's leaking about 500ml in 20 miles) so that will be going in tomorrow and the car should be fully back on the road all ready for Mitcar!!
