Grande Punto Julietta - The Funky Blue 1.2

Introduction

Hey folks! :)

I've been lurking for a while and posting only recently as I am now the proud owner of a charming Italian whipper snapper in the form or a 2006 1.2 8V Grande Punto. Came with just 40,000 miles and has it's full service history, all keys, all logs and receipts, documentation and was NCT'd (MOT'd) just 50KM before I got her! She's just been treated to a full winter service and new gearbox seals as well. Below is a small photoshop of some plans, I just really love the Alfa wheels but they won't fit.

After chatting to another member 'Wisey' about what I've done to the car - I decided it would be best to create a thread to show my progress since I'm going to be doing a tonne of bits and bobs over the next 2-3 months. So far I have bought / done the following:

* Fitted Chrome 501 Indicator Bulbs
* Fit Custom Fit Grande Punto Mats
* Added Aux-In Cable for Blaupunkt
* Changed to White LED Interior Bulb
* Changed to White LED Boot Bulb
* Replace the Heater Controls Bulbs
* Taxed and Insured the Beast :p

I bought Error-Free LED's for the reg place and boot but the cough up the dashboard error so I'm getting load resistors soon as you'll see below. I also change the 501's to a white LED and they looked great but gradually reduce and go off so I have a full Xenon Kit coming soon. Shame, they looked great:

Coming to me in the next weeks is...

* Yatour SD / USB / Aux Virtual CD Changer
* 501 Canbus Error-Free 13 SMD LED's
* Load Resistors for said Canbus LED's
* 2 x Red Fiat Badges for Front and Back (in case I don't debadge).
* Full Xenon Headlight Kit for the Grande Punto
* 4 x White LED Strips for Footwells / Boot
* 2 x Antislip Phone / Keys Holders for Console
* 2 x Front Fog Lights for Grande Punto

And from Micks Garage because it's the best one for OEM looks and fitting:

* Black Fiat Adjustable Armrest (soon to be Aux-In housing)

And in the New Year...

* Coilovers / springs + 205/45/R17 Alloys
* Debaging the Boot (just "Punto")
* Debaged Front Grill (and maybe black reg vinyl)
* Carbon Effect or Spray Interior Dashboard
* Full Paint Polish and Wax (to remove a few scuffs)

Finally, going to try and custom make some sort of mold / mount at the useless cup holders to hold my phone:

Maybe integrated something like this?

Thanks for looking guys - I love this place already (y)
Re: My Funky Blue 1.2 GP "Julietta"

My aftermarket fog lights have arrived :D I went for these because I do like the small accents of black (albeit plastic) on the car already and because of this, my new wheels will be black in the background or inner once I get them. Got 2 x fog light bulbs with my Xenon kit recently so these should compliment by current setup beautifully! I think they will look like the car linked below:

Ah look, the red badge on the rear and front in question as well :p

Yeah they're cheap, nasty rubbish mate, which is a shame because they would look good. Tried fitting them to the ex's Grande, the quality was abyssmal (poorly molded), there were massive gaps around the edges and having to screw them into the bumper rather than use the original mounts meant they got sent back pretty sharpish.

Nice one for the heads up, what year GP did you try fit them too? I was more attracted to them because of the looks as well, the black accent is nice so thats a kick in the teeth!

I think they just look like cheap tacky lights in the first place. Find a scrappy for some OEM ones for sure, or if your lucky the classifieds here have them for sale every now and again, which is where i got mine (reminds me i need to fit them!)

whats the sound quality like with that aux kit? Is it crisp quality like CD when connecting your iphone?

Ah it's really quite excellent, actually sounds clearer and crisper than a normal CD (without skip worries) and the actual output bitrate is greater. Plus, it's the actual convenience of it being tucked away in the glovebox holding 1000's of songs at my disposal ;) It's highly recommended and cheap for what your getting.

Got her mighty dirty yesterday on my travels to Kells, must put a picture up of it in the dirty car thread :p

Here's a photoshop I did of the car (before and after) trying to imagine her lowered 40mm and with bigger wheels (just resized my current hubs because I can't afford new ones yet).

Now that I see it, I'm liking the style of the wheels - much like ones off the Scirocco but they are all 5xPCD so I'll see if I could source cheap ones. I still love the multispoke look, in particular from OZ.

Just ordered two original suspension top mounts off eBay - there's only so much knocking I can take and it's embarassing having to explain it if someone's in the car.

Might order break pads too...

Ok I have luckily come into some cash and plan on getting some new wheels. I have seen this online for sale, brand new for only €150 (about £120) and would like people opinions on them. I've done a animation mockup too with it slightly lowered. Thanks! :)

I think they look nice mate. For the price they are brand new they are a bargain surely!

I think IMHO I would be looking to have the door handles colour coded to the car mate

Regards

Stephen

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Although that is not my car, my handles do need to be colour coded as mine is the same model / colour. I'm going to get them done as soon as I get the dashboard sprayed :)

managed to buy one but cant control tracks up/down from steering? And it doesnt connect through aux mode?
