Stilo black wheels on my stilo.

thanks, amazing what an hour and £10 in paint can do. i have shortened the gear lever this week and photo'd how it was all done in 20 mins easily but i struggle uploading pictures onto the site(probebly because i'm a lot better at playing with cars than working computers?) this is my 8th fiat but my first stilo and i love it, had a strada 130tc when i was 23 and it kind of reminds me of that without the starting problems. love the forum it's fantastic. :slayer:

no mines a 1.6. i would have to look at the 1.2 as i presume it's a 6 speed so doesn't have room for lift up reverse. i don't know how many of you have removed the gear gaiter and seen the set up but it's quite a crude affair basically like a plastic hump that the lift up mechanism slides over for the reverse gate. as soon as you remove the outer casing of the reverse system it is no longer needed to get car into reverse. 5th gear is a tad harder to get in but not too bad but if i have a problem with it i will attach a wedge onto the hump to help 5th slide in easier. has anyone tried putting a 6 speed into a 1.6 or a 1.8? i'm sure if you fitted longer ratio cogs you could get 50mpg on a motorway in 6th and it would pull off like a loony. would just need to play with the final drive.

i find the 1.6 gearlever massive, the throw on it is so long and when it's shorter it changes quicker and feels so much more sporty. if you take them right down it's like the bolt on a sniper rifle. i risked cutting mine because i have a spares car to replace the lever if i messed it up so i took photo's of the job from start to finish so others don't need to take the risk. but all in all the gearchange is 10 times better now it's shorter.

you done a great job of the wheels ive always wanted to paint mine black but id be scared to do it myself. I think the black wheels would look awesum with the bright blue body paint.
