Please excuse the dirty car weather been crap and the days its been good ive been working
Not much planned this month car going into bodyshop to get some deep scratches fixed on the bootlid so its been a scrimping mods month.

I fitted some wind deflectors just in time for our small heat wave

Sorted out hole where fag lighter was, old one was knackered so was replaced with a start button which I moved closer to the ignition barrel leaving a hole, now with new job im travelling a bit and needed to charge my phone on the go my solution.

Take one USB cigar lighter plug

Gently Destroy said USB Plug

Place facia over the hole, had to file slightly to get it to fit perfect and glue from behind, then line board and housing up and glue that in.

Connect wires to the old cigar lighter loom

cheers mate.

Jus another thing, does it get any way hot while its charging?

I was using a 12v to 5v convertor, (from an old psp car charger) to power about 50 5v led's and it was getting very hot after a few mins being on.

Maybe it was due to the fact i was running so many led's off it, but i pulled it out after a while.

not that i noticed hooked it up to a variable voltage PSU set to 12v at work and charged my phone to test before fitting.

Didnt seem any warmer than when i put it on after an hour, it says it does 12V to 24V so assuming it can take a fair bit of sustained voltage.

Did you have the LEDs hooked to resistors? If so how many resistors?

The USB Charger here is rated at 2.1A so should be fine for most applications. Is switch mode as well which means it shouldn't get hot unless you overload it

they came off an alfa 145 cloverleaf (i think) my mate was breaking they really need a refurb though they are pretty kerbed, Im waiting on my new tyres coming for my fiat wheels and then they will be getting back to there former glory, I really like them though, although they need spacers on the rear to clear the suspension bolt after I lowered it

Well I recently retro fitted a USB cigarette adapter to where my cigarette lighter used to be for charging my phone etc.

Now I need somewhere to put my phone for Sat-Nav duties or playing MP3's through my AUX in in stereo, Im currently saving up to get some work done on the car scratches and new tyres etc so buying one is out of the question lol :)

The Scrimp-my-ride solution

Take one old Hard Case cover for my Galaxy SII
Take 2 no longer smelly vent clip scent sticks

Hot Glue Gun them to the back of hard case

Then Fit Simple and looks OK (y)
