Panda (Classic) Project Panda-looking Pandas.

Introduction

Ok Gavin here we go ;).

With Gavins (Palio) consent this thread will chart the progress of a little project I'm carrying out for him. It's basically two matching Pandas made to look like Panda bears. These will then be used as company cars by Gavin and his business partner to also promote their new business venture.

Now Gavin is well aware that this could easily turn into being two tacky cartoon style wouldn't be seen dead in cars, so my initial brief stated that my design had to be tasteful and suggest Panda rather than be in your face. Also, there were to be certain engine and interior upgrades to make them more pleasant to live with on a regular basis.

Well I have submitted and had approved a design so it's now full steam ahead with the first car. The basis for this is the white clx I recently picked up from David (Fiat Nutter)............

Second car may be this one that I already had..............

But may not.
Does this mean Panto can rescue me (...again) if I break down on my way tomorrow? ;)

Afraid not, seats and carpet are back out. :)

Glad to hear he's nearly finished. (y)

What's this about rescues though? There is a £500 call out fee (payable to me!) if Panto's involved - got to recoup a little of the expenditure somehow Didge3 ;)

Sorry I must have come over all confused and misunderstood my own memory.
At no point have I ever been towed by Panto in any way, I have no idea where that came from  ;) :p

I thought I'd taken pics of the amp & speakers but can't find them, will take some more tomorrow  The front speakers now have white grilles to give more of a black/white theme so I wanted to show this to get opinions on how they look, well mainly Gavin's.

Oh, Panto now has a new registration no. F1 ATP. :) Very nice, and a very clever move by Gavin to obtian it I think. :worship:

A little late but here are the pics............

I looked down at the speedo today just as this was happening.......

As if Panto wasn't getting enough attention, that no. plate really makes him stand out now. I've been to Alton and back twice since fixing the engine. On one trip I stopped for petrol, and on the other I stopped at a cashpoint, both times I was approached by members of the public wanting to talk about him.

Gavin, whenever you go anywhere in Panto make sure you give yourself an extra half an hour for conversations. ;)

One job I nearly forgot was to make a tailgate trim. Some Pandas have these and some don't, the clx's don't.

I borrowed the black painted one from my Sisley and used it as a template to cut a new panel from a sheet of fibreboard.........

This was then covered on one side in black vinyl to match the vinyl on the door cards...........

Then after cutting the fixing holes the new panel can be fitted to the tailgate using new black trim clips...........

Sorry for the quality of the last pic, it was getting dark.

Panto now has a new ticket to ride for the next year! :woot:

An iffy horn was fixed (sort of but it doesn't work when the wheel is in a certain position Bob scout - made a very loud honk at the mot though which was all that mattered!!), the handbrake isn't great but scraped through & one of the extra lights at the front doesn't work (not tested therefore ok!). :bang:

The comment that the underneath had been "waxoyled to death" is good. Another customer saying he wished he'd got a camera was also good! (y)

Good news! (y)

The handbrake has never been great for some reason, even though everything is as good as new on the rear brakes. Would like to investigate further next time he's with me.

Front light probably needs a wire wiggling or a light tap, you did want it to be like factory didn't you. :p

Steve thought the cable felt too tight - does that make sense? I just agreed and agreed more as he fudged the figures slightly!

I wiggled and thumped where I could, but no joy. I didn't want to wiggle any harder as the important bits were all working at that moment..... :slayer:

You remember what you said about that pile of bits from Kev..............
