So here I am!

Was about 3 years ago when I known FiatForum for the first time, posting international invite to a meeting in Italy.

Now I get back here just looking for new details and time has come to present my car!

As it is written, my car was a prototype for the Rotrex italian installer, the first street release for the 1368 16v supercharging kit. While many people around in Italy refers to my car as a "fake GT", it was an Mk1 1.2L 16v Sporting 86bhp that I started to convert to a track day toy about 5 years ago.

Heart of the project is the Rotrex supercharger that has been fitted to a 1368 Fire from a FIAT Idea, while most of the other stuff was former Sporting parts. That wasn't so much a good outfit, the tuner made wrong decisions on the kit I still don't understand why. The worst of all was keeping the stock ignition map, think that doomed my pistons in about 6000 km.

Retune started 2 years ago after pistons changing, here the actual stage:

- CPS Custom pistons, Compression Ratio 10,5:1 (stock was 11:1)
- Stock camshafts from Mk1 Sporting
- Marea 1.6 Throttle Body (did I export this to Uk through PSUK some years ago? :D)
- Mk1 Sporting Air intake Plastic / aluminium
- Supersprint 4 - 2 - 1 headers
- Supersprint / Ragazzon exhaust system, 51mm (Punto GT / TD)
- Stock Catalysts from a 1.8L Bravo GT
- Rotrex C15-60 rated for 8 PSI boost at 5000 rpm
- Behr intercooler
- Bosch 0 280 156 022 Injectors, former SAAB 93 2000 16v
- COP coils from Panda 100hp / Idea
- NGK IKR9F8 plugs form T-Jet / Abarth
- Haltech ECU on stock sensors + cam angle sensor, WB O2 sensor, EGT probe; full sequential injection and phased ignition.

This was about the engine, I omitted the part about body :D nothing strange is on it besides the GT brakes.

Oh I forget, the car colour is purple, please don't tell it's pink or what else :D My friends called the car "Milka" from the swiss famous Chocolate :D

First picture for tonight :D

Youth mess the mind from anyone :D I'm working on a more classic style, be patient!

Meantime, engine bay!

The air filter is from an HGT Mk2, I head to remove the BMC DIA because a "very nice" Carabiniere impoud my car license for it...

Oh, as I'm here why not trying it... Is there someone selling Morette's for Mk1 Punto?

Where does the blower take its drive from?

Other blown Puntos have ripped the cam belt drive to shreds and wrecked the top end as well as the crank nose into the pulley. What was the solution?

Rotrex is moved by the auxiliary pulley, the one for the generator and the power steering pump. If it brakes out, I want blow the camshafts!

I'll post some other pics while I'm on work break!

They did it the cheap and cheerful way. Rotrex are centrifugal blowers, everyone else used BMW scrap bin Bini Eatons.

The Eatons are positive displacement blowers, so they put bigger torque loads (and big shock pulses) into the crank pulley. Hence the big crunch!

Even so, I'd like to see a crank pulley that's not made of monkey metal and a real woodruff key!

But isnt the aux pulley driven by the cam belt pulley which is monkey metal on a weak locating key.

But as @fingers says, a low blow pressure and no pulse might cope ok.

wow, you placed a very nice question :D Never heard or experiecend failures of the aux pulley, actually skid of the belt happend in the past due to wrong tightening. However in my case, it was a non standard application since this kit was designed for the later Fire equipped car with electric power steering (City) and A/C while my engine car was an idraulic power steer without A/C. They had to think on the way a new braket for the steering pump and no belt tensioner was placed in use, the pump bracket must be turned to apply the correct load. Awful, I know.

Tonight I'll post some :D Ubuntu doesn't help with the previews, yesterday evening I got crazy sorting them :D Tonight I'll apply different tactics for sorting and uploading :D

no it's just that I don't understand how to make the preview show in the selction window.. Non only with this forum, almost on every upload windows. Actually the icons are too small... But this is OT :D

Ok, here N° one: Mr supercharger!

As you can see, the pulley work takes the spin out from the stock aux pulley. There's a plenty of rubber debrees caused from the previous belt slip I was experiencing on high rpm. We are now thinkin about a pre-tensioner fitment to avoid this happening again!

This is the upper part where the power steer pump lies.

Middle stage:

The tuner had the bad Idea of keeping the stock ignition map developed for a 10,2:1 N/A engine on a supercharged engine 11:1 with 8 PSI boost. This was 2 years ago.. I was lucky I had no damage to the cylinders. There started the "stage II", ECU swap and custom re-mapping.

Here the new pistons from CPS near the stock ones; quite differente, huh?

550 euros, thats mmh.. 400 GBP?

Todger, CPS produced the pistons for the Panda Trophy and they were up to 12:1 in compresison :D

PS: is there someone so kind to tell me how do I delete wrong pictures from the gallery?
