Grande Punto My 1.2 Active.

Introduction

Photoshopped Car.jpg

Finally got some time to go on this forum properly and make a members thread. This is my 1.2 (soooo slow but I love it) as it is now (top). Lowered on eibach sportlines, still on steelies atm. Some ultra chavvy chrome wingmirrors, and judging by some threads I've seen these are highly controversial but I think dark blue just about gets away with them (awaits backlash).

After looking at other members pretty impressive looking mods, I've settled on what I want to do to my car. My bro did a rather appalling photoshop but you get the idea, I hope! He made the wheels (that look nothing like the link i sent him) a little too large and decided to paint a bit by the rear wheel arch, but squinting should help.
Re: My 1.2 Active

Haha, Nice colour man! I do like this blue on grandes. IMHO white wing mirrors and TD pro race 1.2s suit the colour too (probably because they're not far off Essesse alloys in style) If not, get some Sporting alloys on it! Theres Shed loads for sale in the Classifieds!

Keep up the good work man!

Re: My 1.2 Active

Cool, cheers for the feedback. I live around the corner from Wheels UK so I can browse all I want, I do like the ones you mentioned. I wasnt gonna put the photoshop one up but it's just hilarious, I think the foglight is a special touch :D. Red GP's look pretty sporty, if I didn't have a blue one, it'd be either white or red.

Re: My 1.2 Active

id probs have white and black alloys, but most the new corsa's have that nowadays so you cant win really , nice looking car tho. id keep it nice and simple and dont try to do everything everyone else has, main thing is you like it and your mates envy it :D

Re: My 1.2 Active

Thanks, it's important to me to keep it more subtle than extravert (not that you'd guess from the image above!). The GP is just such a stunning small car and the Active doesn't do it justice, so i want to fill it out a bit and make it my own.

It's gonna be a very slow process as I will purchase bits and pieces periodically but I will post pictures up as and when :). Probably going to be de-badged grille first as cheap and easy, already got the lowering out the way, then tints, then alloys, then possibly replace cheap plastic inserts in bumper with fogs. Would like to get some abarth lights front and rear too. Not sure about getting colour coded door handles as I don't think it's that noticeable on this particular blue, will have to think about it.

But before all of that, a call to the insurers .

Re: My 1.2 Active

Believe it or not, he's been doing a graphic design course for the past 18 mths at college. Thought he'd produce something amazing, and was well... surprised. Whats the point of having a graphic designer in the family if they cant even hash a decent photshop together?! :ROFLMAO:

Re: My 1.2 Active

Gone for the FK one? Im not a huge fan of the vinyl tbh. I prefer the smoothed look :D Ive got an old bumper hanging about with a nice big crack in it (no thanks to a dumb blonde in a Mercedes CLC kompressor reversing into me  ) so i think a fibre glass kit may have to be bought and a smoothed bumper made :slayer:

Re: My 1.2 Active

Yeah settled on the FK one, debating which site to order from now. Car Audio Security are reasonable but wont deliver to an address different to the billing address (and if you had my neighbours you would not want them to take anything in for you, it'd be up on ebay by teatime). FK's site confuses me with all the euro bs, not sure what exact amount will be with delivery etc... so put off by that.

Shame that euro performance don't do them as they were brilliant with my eibach sportlines.

Hmmmmmmm, what a quandry...

Re: My 1.2 Active

Try looking for an FK dealer, no doubt your probably gonna end up paying a few quid more but FK's stuff is good quality and ive been messed about by CAS when ordering my HU before. Your choice though man!

Re: My 1.2 Active

At last, ordered the badgeless grille. Went with Madmotors.com as they were the only ones I could find that satisfied my delivery requirements. Hadn't heard of them before, so searched around on the forum and it appears legitimate so went for it. Should be here very soon :D.

Also put me fiat-forum stickers in rear 3 windows, which with me being a bit on the special side, struggled hopelessly with. After 10 minutes of wondering whether it was one big sticker or lots of individual ones, tried to PEEL OFF THE LETTERS and stick them on INDIVIDUALLY. Then realised I was being a spanner and stuck the strip on the window upside down. Peeled strip off and some letters came off. Managed to get them off, and put back on strip, re-applied and ripped the first 'w'. Also managed to leave all the middles inside the 'o's etc... and there's a decimal that's wonky. All in all though, looks good now (ish) ;)

How in gods name will I manage to mod my GP when I can't even cope with applying window stickers?! Watch this space Ahhhh

Will post pics up of grille when done (or when I have fixed it the roof).

Also to anyone that can help me, how do i post a pic to the left side of the members motors bit next to the title of this thread? Please type very clearly

Those chrome mirror caps aren't doing your car any favours atm. its definitely crying out for some new alloys though, but if you're planning on getting any that look anything like the ones on tht photoshop then i wouldn't bother :p would be worth trying to get some colour coded door handles as well.

If you can find wheels that look quite like the 'photoshop' (doesn't deserve the name) then you're a better man than me. I actually wanted lightweight 17"s, not 19" monstrocities, but that's what you get for asking a div to do the photoshop. :yuck:

As for the mirror caps, they were a dirt cheap buy as a volvo driver smashed into my n/s mirror on a country lane, and I found a set cheaper than I could the crappy plastic ones. At the time I wasnt wanting to mod my cars styling so wasnt fussed on the look but have changed my mind since. One advantage is they give me a good reflective view of my wheelie bin so my neighbours can't keep sneaking their rubbish into ours. :p

Don't worry, I do have taste, just gonna be a while before it all pulls together :) Thanks for the feedback though, all comments welcome as I am a complete and utter numpty with most things.

Jesus, seem to have gone bit crazy. Got de-badged grille, abarth headlights, and foglights (the darker ones not the chrome ones) coming next week .

Also, I will take previous advice and turn contorversial chromey dealer wingmirrors possibly to white (thinking about white pro-race 1.2's). Think I'll just see what they're like to spray paint. What do people think about things like sideskirts and spoiler? Needed or not? Can't decide myself.

Anyhoo, that's it for this month til I get paid again. Will post pics when I've bodged all the bits for the front on. :D

Thanks for your suggestion, not sure I'm that keen on those tho tbh. I was originally thinking something in anthracite or a darker colour, but now edging towards white pro-race 1.2's. I've seen some on this forum, particularly a black one with the white wheels that look stunning. Please pay no mind to that photochop, those wheels are horrendous! My bro couldn't resize the wheels so just painted 'replicas' on. Seriously, how can you not resize something on photoshop?! :D I am kinda thinking a blue and white theme, I know it's been done by others but I actually really like it. Hoping my headlights arrive tommorrow!

Abarth lights arrived today!:D Can't have a go at fitting them as working 24/7 atm, but next Friday there is a window of opportunity to do it :). I'm hoping by that point my fogs and grille should be here too.

I am considering painting my steel wheel covers white to get an idea of what white wheels will look like, as well as my mirrors. Doesn't really matter if I cock them up as they will be getting changed to alloys soon anyway (y)

I am also going to try and find good prices for sideskirts and a rear spoiler to finish it all off, as well as abarth rear lights. Seeing DannyWestall's interior pics has made me start thinking about the interior too . All being well I will have pics up of first mods next Friday .
