Multipla The Toad.

Introduction

So after owning all sorts of stuff from Buicks to Polos I've finally lost the plot and purchased a "bug eye" Multipla. It's a 110 JTD ELX with only 35k miles but it's a bit (err very) rough around the edges. The colour is horrid, actually I've always hated all Multiplas so it was an interesting choice. Anyway I presume you're not after my life story.

For me this is a second car so it's not about performance (obviously), it's about comfort and practicality. We'll see how long that lasts. I am very tempted to slam it, which wouldn't be comfy or practical at all. But it would look sooo right. I think it will eventually end up on airbags, I dont think I could ever go back to creeping over speedbumps after the amount of fun I've had this week.

Anyway, I've not done much to it yet and I've not got much money so it's a work in progress.

Here is a chop I did of the for sale pic to whet your appetite:

So sadly the missus has peed on the bonfire and insists she would rather go for black and not grey. So we've not even started yet and the plans are already out of the window!

Day 1:

Love this car already. Double electric sunroof, really comfy, good on fuel, should have done this ages ago.

Added some stickers and copious amounts of airfresheners (some kid has puked in the back), also added some handcuffs hanging from the rear bumper and hammered the hell out of some of the dents.

Aww yeah, stickers. Now I'm cool.

Day 2:

Which after a bit of cheeky 5-up speedbump action at high speeds lasted around 3 days... :D

Must say I like it much more now that it's broken, much more character.

Then after about 5 days some more parts started showing up

Bosch flatblade wipers (yaaay I can seeeee)

K&N filter (again only because the old one was cack)

Floor mats (already sporting a chunk of poo)

O HAI

Think that's it for now, more to come.
Any updates?
any updates on this ?

Sorry everyone, I've been slacking on this as I've been trying to get my Polo ready for a show I'm going to this weekend.

Not much to report on the Fiat other than the horn is in, the VW badge has changed significantly (to enable me to open the bonnet lol) and I've put some ghetto foglight grille type protector thingys on!

I'm probably going to leave the suspension as it is for now, I'm off to the Czech republic in the old girl in 2 weeks and i need it to be practical and comfortable, although i am stopping at the nurburgring on the way home

I'll try and get some snaps in here soon.

errr yeah a few, not sure where to start!

Made it back from the Czech Republic via the Nurburgring AOK, car was great, kept up with some ring traffic and pounded across all of Germany via the autobahn at a surprisingly steady 110-115 when I wanted to. I've got lots of pics but don't have time right now, I'll post some later.

I've bought some snow tyres which I was planning on putting on my standard wheels, but some three spoke 15" 4x98s came up and I couldn't resist! Hence me putting the standard wheels up for sale (open to offers) [/cheeky_sod]

Oh, and the front end now looks like this:

Kinda reminds me of those old frog wellies people used to wear :D

I'll get some pics of the snow tyres on the three spokes as soon as I get them mounted. Need to paint the wheels black first ;)

Thanks for showing interest guys, helps my motivation (y)

Winter wheels

Well I've finally got my act together and fitted my winters.

As you've no doubt guessed by now I wanted something that isn't to everyone's taste ;) They're 3 spoke TSW 15x7s in 4x98 which I've painted black and fitted with Yokohama W Drive snow tyres. They're awesome in the cold and wet, the compound is designed for cold weather so even if it doesn't snow they're way better than the ditchfinders I had on there.

I think they look okay, although being 15s they highlight the need for less arch gap.

here's a quick photoshop I did with a bit moar lows:

and some more pics from today:

That dent in the wing will be popped out soon. In case you're interested, the story goes like this; I had developed a flat tyre and was fitting the spare by the side of the road when I realised one (out of all 16) of the bolts was a 19mm and it happened to be on the wheel with the flat tyre. This brought around the need for a lift 20 miles to get my 19mm socket. Cold, dark and very wet and windy I decided it would be pertinent to punish the wing with my foot. I think they call that forced patina  Hey ho, that wing was toast anyway.

In other news, I've picked up a Witter tow bar with dual electrics for 20 odd quid so that should be on soon. That's pretty much it for now and probably for a while since I've recently picked up a new engine, gearbox and various bits for my Polo which should keep me busy into the spring.

Thanks for reading, have a great festive season. (y)

i actually think this multipla is crazy and insane! Ive never ever ever liked multipla's because they have no good looking features at all, seen this thread and i have to admit i love the imagination and determination you have to this car.
It is a really cool multipla but idk why i think with the craziness thats been going on, im quite suprised you havn't made this car run on tank tracks lol

i missed this one.. cool car.

You got either of the previous sets of wheels still?

Thanks, I'm not selling any wheels if that's what you're asking, the 3 spokes have snow tyres on and the coupe alloys have my summer tyres on them.

tank tracks

GENIUS!

Thanks for the idea! Although I'm not sure what it would do to my MPGz :D

Not a lot going on with it at the moment, got the summer wheels back on and some new drop links on the other day. Driving it to Paris tomorrow, nothing to report modification wise other than some ultra bright headlight bulbs. Got an MOT coming up soon so who knows what fun lurks around the corner!

I was actually after the original multipla wheels.. weird as that may sound lol.

Is the marea your partners car then? Have either of you seen the 20vt coupe engined merea weekend that a guy on here built? He sold it ages ago and i beleive it was broken to save a coupe (shame!)
thought it may interest you, here's the link http://fiatforum.com/marea/153748-first-uk-marea-turbo-build-thread.html

Awesome build, there's a Multipla with one of those in it too you know ;)

If I ever did a transplant on this car it's have to be a big Iveco deisel though.

Love this car!!! It needs to be in the museum in fiats factory. I think you should tint the windows on it though. I've just tinted my multi and makes a big deal of difference. I've also added a hid kit to the front fogs which make a hell of a difference, easy to do and not too expensive £30ish. Keep on creating :)

Yesh lol, The marea is mine, there is a build thread on retro rides and fiatboo, i nearly did buy Ryans old turbo's marea but i think it would of been a money pit in the end and yep it was stripped to save a coupe, but you never know i may just do the conversion myself some day :slayer: also thread hijack alert, the leather is now going in favour of some electric recaro's
