Bravo Bravo TJet150 Sport in Crossover Black

Introduction

Here's my new baby (y)

DSC_3634.JPG

Purchased for the trip to Italy we just got back from

Some pics from the trip
I drove a remapped 159 diesel with around 240 bhp it was fun but you still feel the weight. The interior was rattly and I personally hate the aluminum dash design.

I also checked a new brera (same interior as 159) which had its red interior fading to yellow after only a few months. (the leather parts on the door cards)

I was also recently looking for a new car but I couldn't find anything better than the bravo unless I get a german that costs twice as much and looks like a taxi.
I really wanted to get a rear wheel drive coupé like a hyundai genesis or toyota gt86, but they would be barely more powerful than the bravo, with less options and much more expensive on taxes and fuel.

Other poor man coupés like the astra, megane or ford just stink so much and are sh*tty mainstream brands, at least the fiat is a little exotic.

Added bonus of the bravo for me is that it won't be replaced by a new model, not like owning a 3 series bmw that's already the old model two week after buying it.

Saw a white Giulietta pull into a petrol station yesterday, Cloverleaf model. Really turned my head in a way that they haven't up until now.

Oh - in case of any confusion, I thought you weren't asking enough for your Bravo btw, it wasn't meant as sarcasm in case it came across like that. :)

Yep I understood, it's easy to believe the crappy low valuations dealers and webuyanycar give you. Then you drive past a used car lot advertise old sheds for £5k and gain a sense of perspective

The Megane, particularly in 3 door GT Line spec is a nice looking car which i'd buy, but I'm currently in a 8.5 year old Stilo. If I already had a Bravo I wouldn't consider a Megane a step-up. The only replacement for a Bravo is something mega expensive like a new A-Class. Or the Giulietta. A Focus & Golf may drive better than the Bravo but the Bravo has a sort of exclusivity about it that's hard to replicate with another mid-size hatch.

I wonder if the valuation sites just see a mid-sized Fiat and value it in line with what they'd have valued a Stilo at. I bought my Stilo JTD at 4 years old & 50,000 miles for £3950 in 2008. You wouldn't get a 4 year old Bravo Multijet with 50,000 miles for anywhere near as little as £3950. The used car market has risen, partly because of scrappage. Plus Fiat's residuals seem to have improved, partly I suspect because of the 500 putting Fiats among people who wouldn't normally look twice at Fiat, but also because whilst still needing improvement, Fiats range as a whole is seen as a more attractive place to put your used car money than it was a few years ago.

i just get excited about the new Alfas, they are too germanic

i think you are right, these trade price guides are a self fullfilling prophecy :bang:

you're bang on about used prices holding, the trade are talking about this too
however doesn't seem to work for the customer but for the trade

the main thing that keeps Bravo prices down would be the lack of marketing by Fiat. when did you last see a Bravo advert or a Bravo IN a showroom??

I admit the Giulietta isn't as distinctive as a lot of other Italian cars but it does have a bit more character than an A3 or Golf. The new A Class is similarly quirky to the Alfa though, so the Alfa isn't as stand out as you might expect. They kinda had to do that to get the sales though, otherwise they'd never have the revenue to plough into other models which Alfa desperately need.

Totally agree that the prices holding up aren't good for the customer - I have done well outta my Stilo as it's probably still worth £1500 as a private sale, so it's lost about £600 a year, which I think is ace. However, to replace it with a Bravo of the age and mileage of the Stilo when I got it, i'd be having to find about £2000 more than I spent on the Stilo :( I bet the traders spin the line 'it's a mid-sized Fiat' and offers a rock bottom trade-in price to an unsuspecting seller, but then whacks it up on the forecourt for a small fortune.

Bravo prices seem quite low at the 2-3 year old point, but after that the depreciation really seems to slow down (from looking on AutoTrader). On the Stilo they just seemed to free-fall until the last couple of years.

Not seen Bravo ad since the 'Every Part Works Beautifully' 5 year unlimited miles warranty TV advert in 2008! I think they just gave up on it. Weird coz up North there are actually quite a few around upto 09 plate (just after the advertising stopped). After 09 plate I hardly see any at all, and round Oxford I can go weeks without seeing one of any age. Think a lot of that is down to dealer coverage though. Having said that, I've seen a 12 plate Dynamic/MyLife and a 62 plate Sport in Manchester, which was a shock (y)
