Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Ohhhh...that the real legacy...i am impressed.

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Thanks for the Uno love. It is a nice one. This is the third re-shell from what I understand. The previous owner found the current shell to be so good that the fact it had a sunroof was forgiven and it was simply cut out and a sheet riveted over the hole.

I've only driven the car in first gear and that was after I bought it! Sometimes you just have to go for it. The pictures tell the story of careful ownership and constant development.

I will be taking to the MOT centre when I have sold my Westfield, which is currently occupying the garage space. For now the Uno remains hidden away under a cover with all it's spares in it. I can't even look at it until the Westfield is sold and the garage cleared.

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Dave told me you were getting this.
It is very nice! :D

We going to see more of you round the Uno forums now?

So this is the Uno mistress you'll be cheating on the Panda with!

Great spec and condition, I can see the attraction. Any idea of power output?

Probably. This is my first Uno!

Any idea of power output?
what figures it running?
170-190BHP, 220-240 lb ft torque depending on boost according to figures I have. It sounds like there is the age-old problem of heat capacity to consider. I can boost very high for short periods like the sprinting/hillclimbing it was designed for, but trackdays sound like running at the slower end if I want to go all day. Handling is supposed to be superb, so it doesn't bother me too much.

It was carefully rolling road mapped only to find the inlet hose was split and leaking boost! Obviously it over-boosted when it was fixed. Now the throttle butterfly has been set to limit boost to around 1.1bar? Think this is gonna need sorting.

Just got insurance on it. Most expensive policy I've ever had @£450 anually. This was a transferred policy from a V6 Alfa. Will be trying to get it on classic policy when this expires.

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

say, is that the engine I did for Nathan Corridon some years back?

Nice to see some performance figures, I never actually got any..

regards indeed,

G

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Thanks for letting me know!

I lost touch with Nathan over the years. I'd be very pleased to be able to reproduce your dyno results in my forthcoming (albeit slightly behind schedule..) book on tuning Fiat/Lancia engines if you'd be willing to share them? I don't have any from Uno Turbos. Haven't done many, come to that!

Best regards,

G

Re: Uno Turbo road legal racer

Oh, that Dave. Got ya!

Good good! :D
I was going to say "Mr_Chutney", but I thought You'd have even less idea who I meant ;)

If you wanted to change the grey bonnet for a black one, let me know. I have a spare one in London that's sitting there, waiting.

If I head back to London, I'll pick it up (if you want it) - you are only 1hour 20 down the M4 from me. :)
