Stilo our babys

Introduction

the silver 5dr active ive owned from new, the red multiwagon dymanic is the new one for the wife. both have 1.6 lumps are in in excellent condition. tbh its really nice having two fantasic looking cars on the drive.

heres just a few more, the silver one has since this photo was taken has had a 40mm drop in the suspension, she looks a lot better now especially as she still looks in very good condition. the multiwagon is a better drive (gearbox is much more postive) and the skyroof changes the whole driving experiance. but i still use the aircon most of the time.
the 5dr has been an excellent workhorse over the years, except for the usual problems touch wood she has seen me though 80k of motoring pretty well (except the gearbox).

thank mate, i personally wanted to buy the mw when i first puchased the stilo back in 03, but the model had only just been released and the delivery dates were a joke so i got the 5dr (we had no kids then). i think the mw looks pretty from all angles but the 5 dr is ugly, no i mean boring from the rear. also the extra equipment you get with the mw makes it a much nicer car. now i just need to talk the wife into swapping lol.

out of all the stilo shapes...

i like the 3 door the most... it looks completely different to the 5 door..

then the multiwagon (quite a good looking estate)..

and im not to keen on the 5 door tbh.. looks a bit like a cab

but yours look good examples.... and if i had to choose a multiwagon... id choose your example ;) (but with the JTD engine) :p

Glad to see you've still got it!

Love the MW's, always had a soft spot for estates.

hi mate you still have yours or not? i will probo be the only owner of my car, ive owned it from new and would cry seeing someone else driving it. she is now a bit clunky and not as tight but still a nice drive especially since being lowered - seen the wheels before LOL.

I love the looks of the three door, i think fiat made a beauty there - it looks mean front and back. the 5 door looks mean on the front but cowardly on the back. the mw looks mean on the front and grumpy on the back - you know what i mean though.

When i first bought mine i really wanted the 3 dr, but we had only been married a short while and my wife said it would really be a better idea getting the 5 door - 1 year and 3 months later our eldest arrived (hmmmm).
now we have a five year old and the 16 month old twins my old girl was starting to struggle - it was a good job she really talked me into the 5 dr otherwise the 3 dr would have gone a long while back.
the mw is really the best value for money you can get on a second hand motor, i payed under 2k for her with only 60k.
now the car can be loaded with kids myself and the mrs and enough luggage for a weeks CAMPING holiday!!.

I had thought about the jtd version and looked at a couple. the prices were slighty higher but so was the milage on all of them. the other cars i looked at were in no where near as good condition as the one we bought (one had completly bald tires all round, broken n/s spring and was chugging like a steam train- this guy wanted 3.5k and it was an 03!!!).
Also - already having a 1.6 in the family i know the engine and gearbox like the back of my hand now, ive had both out for various jobs, my gearbox has got to come out again soon when i can be bothered (blooming oil leak i suspect on the crank - no bigdeal but still a days work).

ive already christened the new mw - just finished this afternoon - both bushes replaced on rear axel, this is a job i wont ever do again what a pig. now its nice and tight again, just a loud bang every time i turn right - exhaust rubber perished - get that changed tomorrow. aint it fun owning fiats lol - some how i wouldnt be satisfied if i didnt have to work on them....you come to expect it after owning them for many years.

on another note, has anyone noticed how cheap insurance is on the 1.6, my wife went from a 1.2 p reg fiesta to this car - twice the size and power - total cost of insurance £26 for the year, £18 of it was admin fee. only a group 5!!! that is low for the amount of car.

thanks for the comments.

Wish I still had mine. Had to sell it as funds where tight, but looking to get another. Not that there's been anything wrong with my Bravo, I just miss my old Stilo. Luckily for me, it's still in the family so with a bit of persuading, I could drive it again one day.

It's good to hear it's still going strong though. They get their fair bit of stick but I had nothing to complain about in my ownership!

Edit: Oh yeah, glad to see my old wheels doing the rounds!

Hiya guys and gals ,

They do look good the two of them parked side by side, I would be proud. The MW is growing on me, Ive only seen two in the metal.

I see quite a few actually :D i've seen silver , dark blue , grey , red and a lovely mint green (y) they are combination of 1.6's and JTD's

As for the insurance Roy , my MW JTD is also group 5 (y)

And i was amazed how much it went down , when i went from my Marea 2.0 20v 155bhp to the MW JTD (y)
I thought being a much newer car it would go up
but it didn't :slayer:

Regards Jason :slayer:

I also don't like the 5-door much, I think with just the 3-door and MW in the range FIAT would have still sold plenty of cars without having the uncle fester of the range lol.... Still I don't doubt more people bought the 5-door than either of the other 2 models. But I bet most of the folk that bought the 5-door looked at the 3-door first and said "oh thats lovely, can't I have it in a 5-door please.... oh!"

oh well, not updated this for a while....
anyways the 5dr is gone, total loss 3 days before christmas, i lost control in the snow and killed her :cry::cry:
so i went and bought yet another stilo - but this time the jtd multiwagon dynamic....
WOW what a car, it pulls like a train.... i will try to get some picys up laters, the red one is still going, but now with a new gearbox as the 1.6 curse caught up with it and the gearbox exploaded.
my jtd is actually a better example than the red one, other than a slight graze on the os front its spotless, but then again it did cost me over a grand more.

Don't you mean £260? The last time insurance was that cheap was in the 1960s.

I really like the multiwagon nearly bought a brand new jtd in black in 2005 but funds were tight and we already had a stilo 5 door so i kept my marea weekend, still in a marea weekend 20v but i think it will soon be time to change into a stilo multiwagon, see how my marea gets on come mot time. the stilo is a magnificent car, feels really solid in comparison to others and i look forward to one day owning a multiwagon jtd

time for an update,
5 door written of a few years back, and mw sold last year.
Ive replaced the 5 door with a 5dr mw jtd when i wrote the old one off

here she is nearly 4 1/2 years after i bought her, she looks stunning still even at the mileage shes at

she was washed and polished to get rid of the sand that had stuck all over her in the last few days.
Im planning to go out there in the summer and do a deep clean inside and out, years of kids and poor winters have made her a bit untidy, but only after 2hours she comes out like this makes me really smile so a deep clean (clay cut on paint) and she should look fantastic.

The car is not worth anything now because of her mileage, but for me its free motoring (no car payments other than the usual cost) so there is no point getting rid of her.
