Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

well tomorow im going to clean mine.

i can only do a certaing number of things to clean it though:

2 bucket method with turlewax shampoo
interior valet
clean windows
would use turtlewax alloy wheel cleaner but dont have alloys lol.
wax th car with turtlewax soft wax
back to black all black plastic trim.

thats all i can really do, i need to buy some sort of claying kit, AG quick detailer, some sort of polishing kit, snow foam and preasure washer....

No offence mate but there is more you can do :p Turtle wax is cheap and crap IMO. I have a bilt hamber clay bar - very good.
To clean my car I use meguiars soft pink wash (cant remember exact name but it helps with waxing etc),
I then use the washing and drying as per this guide https://www.fiatforum.com/car-care/188996-basic-guide-how-clean-your-car.html dodo juice time to dry is v good and i recommend a large drying towel, so much quicker than lathering!!
Then i use autoglym super resin polish, nice and easy to apply and take off with good results, and top it off with collinite 915 - great stuff!
It put a nice deep shine into my paintwork and it only needs applying once every 3 months.
Spent 3 hours cleaning today, which yes is probably quite sad as it started raining afterwards :( but the water beaded off very well :D annoying as well when i can see scratches and paint chips, i want a machine polisher! paintwork is in good condition for a 9 year old car though:)!
I just cannot stress the importance of using good quality products, as I have found out!
Sorry for the essay! ;)

Your new sig looks great mate :)

Cheers buddy, just chopped it together in a few minutes :D was taken outside my Dad's warehouse, makes for quite a nice background!

I am going to have a go at spraying my wing mirrors again tomorrow, me thinks, any tips?

Yeh I think that's what's nice about it. The pale background with the blue. really cool contrast.
I would head over to the guide section for that guide for tips on your wing mirrors.
What happened last time? I can poss give you a disgnosis on what went wrong.

Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

dont be sorry mate, it's actually helping me.

im quite new to actually cleaning a car properly, so i need all the info people can give.

so basically, turtlewax is crap? lol..

how much do you think all that stuff costs what you have said. i might go out tomorow morning to buy a few cleaning goodies :D.

Ye I followed that guide,

Well firstly i made a mistake of using halfords colour code paint, crap match so wont be doing that in the future. Its just that the finish isnt as smooth as i like. the reflection is distortioned if you no what i mean, quite different from the finish on the car. I know i wont be able to match it, need professional jobby for that but i wont as close as i can get!

OK then im not sorry :D yes turtlewax is the 'cheap end' with not so good outcomes. It wont protect as well and the finish may not be as good

Well lets see, i have two draws full of car cleaning stuff  probably spent well over £100 on bits and peices :(

The collinite stuff was £25 with 2 applicators and 3 microfibres. These are also very important for application and finishing/ polishing it off - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260394848314

Dodo juice £6.95 - helps drying - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260363307161

bilt hamber clay bar £10.95 - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250403973152 removes tar etc

Meguiars car wash around £10 and autoglym SRP around £10 but i get deals at my local motorist store :D

For me i have found that that has worked out well, you may want to try other products, but im not spending any more money on car cleaning!! :(

Edit: check out the pics of my car for the shine i got! :) https://www.fiatforum.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2247

Also you will need some good back to black and tyre shine. Autoglym bumper care and Autoglym instant tyre dressing has worked well for me. You just have to work in the back to black well.

Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

i used halfords to match my colour, just gave them the code an they mixed the colour its a good match . it you have a rough sort off texture , use some rubing compund and just rub them down with it , gives them a smooth finish , then just give them another layer off lacuer and rub down again , then polish them up, i did this with mine and it gave a good finish.

Yes they look very good mate, bit ambitious though you must have a lot of money :p

I would say just remove the side strips don't spray them gloss back, pain in the bum to put back on as well, you might bend them getting them off as well.

No harm in washing your car twice mate ;)

What amp you got? i have a 2400 watt one :p

Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, I have the exact same car :)

I have a few dents and scratches similar to yours, so keep up the progress with whatever you do to sort them out :) i'd be very interested.

Also, how much did you pick the bumpers up for mate?

i was actually considering removing the side strips, then completely flushing the boot, ie, debadging, de-wipering and fillin the boot lock hole.

yea lol, i guess i might aswell clean it with the products i have no if i can't get my hands on the 'good' stuff :p. then clean it again when i get my new cleaning goodies lol.

well atm i have 1 amp, just an alpine t222 i think it is, running the front speaker. and i should hopefulyl have in the post, a jbl gto 7001, to power the sub. :D

picked up my bumpers AND passenger wing for 100 quid, but then i payed 33 quid for all 3 items to be sent. so 133 in total, well worth it imo.

yea its a shame we have dents, just means we need to spend that little bit more :(. i hope you get yours out aswell.

yer teseo blue punto's ftw! :D

well i originaly wanted a black or white punto, but this car cae quite cheap. so now i like this colour better lol :p.

Ye thats a good idea (y) dont personalise it with your name though

Teseo blues are a nice colour, just hard to get bumpers for! Come up really well after a nice shining though!

Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

cleaned my car today:

i know some people on here aren't very keen on turtlewax products, but thats all i have atm.

used the 2 bucket method with turtlewax platinum car shampoo
and then waxed the car with turtlewax platinum car wax.
i didnt bother doing the wheels as i just have steelies.
only took about an hour.

i then hoovered inside and just made sure there was no streaks on the windows.

Re: 1PuntoCarl2's Progress thread!

i still got loads of crap on the roof, cant manage to get it off, can you recomend anything?

and i also found loads of stone chips on the bonnet, all this is more work i need to do along with the passenger side dent and boot dent.. ahh well.. lol

but yea, i think it is quite a good clean considering it only took about an hour.. :D.

next on the list is to remove the dents. depending on how much it costs, or maybe tinted windows :D
